Question re: PVP statusFollow

#1 Oct 10 2009 at 4:38 PM Rating: Default
Greetings,
This is probably something I did wrong that is simple, but I need help figuring out what it was. I'm on Borean Tundra server. I had my pvp disabled, but as I was traveling the road near the Night elf town in Ashenvale today, a Night Elf player passed me, then attacked me. It caught me by surprise and I died. I checked again and my pvp was disabled, and I'm positive it was not a NPC. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Uh what does this have to do with the hunter forums besides the fact you're a 28 hunter?

As for your problem...What type of server is BT? If it's PvP then yes you would could be attacked. If it's PvE then...well I don't know.

Borean Tundra is a PvE server in the central timezone.

As for the OP's problem, there are only two possibilities: pvp was on or it was an NPC. Being that you were traveling near Astraanar at level 28, the guards there would have attacked you from *very* far away, so that's the most likely answer. There are a number of tasks you can perform that also flag you for pvp though as well, so it's hard to say which is correct.

If your pet was on Aggressive, that could also be the problem--attack (or have your pet attack) a flagged player and you will become flagged yourself.

I haven't tried it lately, but if you ran fairly close to an NPC and gained aggro, you would flag. So it might be a case of gaining the pvp flag through proximity aggro, which would be visible for an Ally faction player.
