I have jst changed my Undead Mage to alliance, and i was wondering which race i should choose? (i am currently trying to decide between gnome and Dreaneis) i am an Arcane Mage if that makes any difference.

DO NOT bring my other posts/topics into this

It really depends on your preference. There's no race that's better than any other. I personally would pick gnomes, but I have an affinity for short races.

I don't know about any other topics or posts you've made, but you probably got downrated because people get annoyed by posts like these. Especially when, if you had read our sticky, there's info about the differences between the races and pros and cons of each. Read the Mage sticky, and then if you have questions, feel free to ask if they weren't answered.

Human and Draenei are a good toss up since they each offer benefits. However due to Blizzard not having a clue, Human is better.

Draenei
Gift of the Naaru: Heals for almost nothing worth noting.
Gemcutting: Jewelcrafting +5. Woo. Worthless. Until Blizz gets it in their head to make Draenei ONLY cuts(455 now, 530 in Cata) this is junk.
Shadow Resistance: 2% Shadow dodge. Woopdidoo.

The ONLY good, Heroic Presence: 1% hit for everyone in party(not raid). This effectively shaves off a bunch of hit rating. As Arcane, you already get 6% Hit, so now you only need 11% total. Crazy easy.

Human
Perception: Stealth detection+5. Meh, decent for PvP I guess.
Sword/Mace Specialization: Worthless as Mage.

Diplomacy: 10% Rep gains. Amazing for grinding rep.
Every Man For Himself: PvP trinket for free. Instantly gets you out of stuns/binds. Super useful, especially in PvP.
Human Spirit: 3% Spirit boost, great for free crit.

Human overall wins by a landslide, but Draenei not only look WAY cooler, sound WAY cooler, and overall are more awesome... they get the 1% hit.

Aside that, Human wins.

These kind of questions are almost impossible to answer. I mean you give no clue as to what you want to do. For PvE and raiding specifically the +1% hit talent makes Dranei one of the best options. For PvP Humans are by far a better choice the ability to wear an extra DPS trinket instead of the PvP trinket is invaluable.

Seriously though why do you make post like this. It would be simple to read the racial benefits decide what you want to do and then pick either the racials, or if you don't care about min/maxing, the look that you like best. Though if you insist on making said topics it would help to at least include a little hint as to what you plan on doing with the character.

Definitely not. Spirit gives Crit because the only Armor Mages use is Molten Armor, which is based on Spirit->Crit.

As for mana efficiency/damage, race doesn't alter that.

On the alliance side, I've always run my Human Mages. Not sure why, just always works out.
It really doesn't matter on race as much though.

It works out because Diplomacy is the greatest racial EVER.

But humans are boring. >.>

I'm a human irl, why would I want to play one in a fantasy game?

I solved that by playing a gender that is not my own.

Alternative answer: For the racial bonus, duh!
#11REDACTED, Posted: Sep 27 2009 at 5:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) right now i dont use molten armor coz i am only level 42 so in instances i use mage armor which is great mana efficiency and bonus to it is less chance of taking damage when a boss uses an aoe spell
#12 Sep 27 2009 at 5:58 AM Rating: Decent
Wow, I could not imagine paying the cost of swapping faction, for a level 42. You are either financially set or have very little game time lol.

Either way, enjoy Ally. You WILL use Molten Armor -100%- of the time at 80 though.

If all else, go Gnome. Gnome Mage just feels right.
#13REDACTED, Posted: Sep 27 2009 at 6:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i wouldnt say financially set i only going to inherit 2 billion on my next birthday not THAT much nah only joking its the highest level character i am willing on transferring i wanted to skip the alliance start areas coz i find they're rediculously boring

That is a good solution, I just can't bring myself to play male characters. My old lock is actually human, because when I was a newb I kept dying when I mage a gnome lock, so I figured the extra health that a human had would actually make a difference. Smiley: lol She's 61, and one of these days when I get my druid to 80 and need a new alt to level I'll do a server/faction change with her. I just can't bring myself to delete her and start up a new lock since she was my 60 back in Vanilla WoW.
#15REDACTED, Posted: Sep 27 2009 at 12:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Question! Do the talents Arcane Meditation and Pyromaniac stack? because if they do that should mean fire mages never need a mana break (to my knowledge they dont anyway coz by the time they cast a second spell they already got mana back from the first spell)

Yes they do stack, they however do not stack with the mana regen portion of mage armor or the glyph for mage armor. Basically you are capped at 100% mana regen.

I post alot in the class forums, especially for classes I play in so after I post I normally go back to the class list forums and see if anything new was posted. I tend to focus a lot on mage, hunter, and warlock though not much is happening on warlock lately. Also I do have a fairly good internet connection since right now I am at my dorm with a t3 line.

They have a toll-free number... I would think it would work whether you're out of state or not. And if your account was canceled without you canceling it, you either got hacked or you did something to get banned.

Actually there is one other possibility. He may have simply been playing on a game card that ran out of time. If that's the case then he could simply get a new game card and try to renew.

If he wasn't playing on a game card then the two possibilities are either he was hacked or banned. I'm pretty sure they send you an email if your banned, so hacking becomes more likely then. Given that I would do what you suggest and use Blizzards toll free number to call them. Shouldn't be too bad to have them change the password if you can prove the account was yours.

Also if you know you were hacked second step is to find out how exactly. Do a virus and adware scan and try to find any possible problems.
#24REDACTED, Posted: Sep 28 2009 at 11:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) run a virus/spyware scan daily and if my account has been hacked then they have my bank details and i dont seem to be losing money from my bank so that must mean a bug as i dont use a card i didnt cancel it myself and haven't recieved an email about being banned (if i was banned surely i wouldnt be able to play)
#25 Sep 29 2009 at 4:19 AM Rating: Good
They wouldn't have your bank details as the website doesn't display the full #, it only shows something like XXXX XXXX XXXX X123 or whatever

Since no one went on about this aside "yes they stack"

You would never use this. Ever.

Arcane does not go beyond 3 points in Fire.

Fire does not waste the talents on Meditation.

Running OOM on Fire is actually VERY hard, plus if it does not add DPS its generally not worth it.
