Farming/pet tank specFollow

I would have thought this would have been easy to search for. It wasn't, hence my humble question...

I am looking for a good hunter build to maximize my pet's tankability (for taking on multiple baddies at a time & some BC instance soloing). I think I have the pet spec figured out, but what would a good BM spec look like?

This is from 3.1 - is it still good?

Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't look too shabby. :)

A couple things off the top of my head:

If the build is going to be used for outdoor farming (it wasn't quite clear from your title), it might be nice to pick up Pathfinding. You can probably drop 2 points out of something else, and the mounted speed boost is really nice for riding around farming herbs and such.

Improved Revive Pet is always kind of a tricky choice. You certainly have the points to spare to pick it up, the question is how often you will actually need to rez your pet in combat--and how often you'll survive long enough to get the cast off. If you find your pet dying a lot, then it's a great talent to grab, especially when paired with the revive pet minor glyph. On the other hand, if your pet is fairly sturdy, one or more of those points might be better spent elsewhere, like filling up Improved Mend Pet and possibly Go For The Throat depending on gear.

Which glyphs are you planning on using for this spec?

I'd move one point to Aimed shot if you want to solo instances and whatnot.
Why? Because so many bosses have annoying self heal abilities that re much less annoying if they only heal for half as much.

I agree, Aimed Shot is pretty useful for almost everything, make sure you put a point in it.

I third the Aimed Shot suggestion--I wasn't even thinking of that, since I never expect a non-marks non-pvp build to grab it, but it could definitely come in handy. Smiley: nod
