Re-Starting Mage, need help.Follow

Okay so at this point I have all of my triumph gear except two pieces of T9 and the trinket. I just got 50 badges tonight, but I'm not sure whether to get a piece of the T9 or the trinket. If I got a piece of the T9 I wouldn't be using it yet anyways, because I'd lose my T8 bonus without gaining the 4 piece T9 bonus. What do you guys think? Armory is in my sig with my current gear, although I usually have the Sundial trinket equipped and not the 219 hit trinket I have equipped.

Trinket is bad. I don't care what any charts or things say, it is bad. Personally, the iLvl200 do just fine. I'm using Dying Curse and Abyssal Rune and both are insanely good.

100% of the time I get 71hit 84haste(*drool*) and I proc 1300 SP more often than Use trinkets are up. Nothing is going to beat that aside the Flame one from Anub25.

The Triumph trinkets, all of them, are the worst itemization done for T9 era aside the gimp "Use" trinkets from TotC

Agreed with SB,

The triumph trinket is just not good at all. Although the 219 hit trinket is bad compared to the dying curse as well (if you have it I would equip it) but for the most part the volatile power (that's the name of the triumph one, right?) trinket is just poorly itemized and worse than a lot of other easily accessible trinkets. Save up the badges to get your T9 gear

Okay thanks guys. Sadly I do not have Dying Curse, or I would definitely be using that. The hit trinket I only use when there's no SP or Boomkin in my raid as I only have 7.6% hit right now. However, I am considering joining a guild that's a bit more serious about raiding so I may get a chance at the Anub trinket or Dying Curse. As much as I love my guildies, my guild leader has no interest in working on hard modes and no interest in doing Ulduar other than downing Yogg to improve our rating on wow-heroes. Our ToC raid got cancelled last night because we were short one healer, which we could have easily pugged if he wanted to. Six of us were so frustrated by that we went ahead and pugged two healers and a tank. Then two of our guildie DPS DC'd, and we had to replace them. The PuG DPS was terrible and it took us three hours just to get to Anub, which we didn't end up downing. So yeah, I'll be having a little chat with our guild leader tomorrow and if there aren't some changes in his attitude me and the other best geared DPS are going to leave. I don't WANT to leave, I'm just sick of our leader not being a leader and being content with half assing it until Icecrown comes out.

Okay, so I got a nice trinket upgrade in ToC tonight, at least I was thinking it was a good upgrade. Fetish of Volatile Power According to Rawr, the Abyssal Rune and Sundial of the Exile are still better per DPS, but my guildies pointed out that it was probably because the new trinket has a use function. What do you guys think?

It is a bad trinket for multiple reasons. First of all, as noticed it is on-use, which means it probably has a 2 minute cooldown. You are stacking haste, not getting a straight haste buff, and it only lasts 20 seconds. So basically, assuming you are using ABs at ~2sec/cast you can get your 8 stacks and fully utilize the maximum haste stack for 4 seconds before it goes back on cooldown. If it was a straight stacking one (like IDS for instance) then it wouldn't be that bad, but it definitely isn't good. Especially compared to Sundial/other proc trinkets that the ICD for their proc is generally 45 seconds.

Bah. Why the hell did Blizzard make so many bad trinkets for caster dps? >.< That's so annoying.
