Will druid be the new Paly? Follow

Prior to Wrath coming out I correctly guessed that the new class (DK) and the most relevant class (Paladin – Arthus was a Paly) would see strong bumps. (I didn’t know that DK would be OP though…) So, thinking that the central classes in the new upcoming patch would get a bump, I decided to make a Pally in advance. I turned out that I was correct and both classes were strong.

Now that the new patch is expected, I’m wondering if Druid is the way to go. From my understanding of the patch, a lot of action revolves around druids.

Anyone else thinking the same thing? I want to make a new toon and I’m leaning toward either druid or shammy. My preliminary thought is that druids seem to be central to the new story (expac) and maybe they’ll be bumped up like Paly was??

No tell but druid is OP right now. Well feral and resto at least.

yeah, feral and resto are pretty freaking strong. i dont know if id call resto OP, but i do know that without an MS effect or a dispeller, killing a resto druid is near impossible with anything less than three dps.

feral walks an interesting line. if you leave them unmolested theyll tear someone a new ******* just as sure as any elemental shammy or destro lock will. the flipside of this is that elem shammies and destro locks dont have near the tankability that a feral druid does, so if a feral goes defensive on you youre really wasting resources if you continue to stay on them. this gives ferals the ability to really control where a fight goes because if you let them dps in cat youre borked, and if you let them tie you up in bear youre borked.

hell, ive seen some geared cat druids just sit in cat and take the damage while they continue to dish it out. its very sick.

i foresee nerfs coming. cant say exactly what for ferals (perhaps an easing of the dps rotation at the cost of some overall dps, combined with survivability decreases in cat) but for restos id expect there to be some incentive created to do more than stack HoT's on someone. how theyll do that i dont know, but they likely wont be doing any of this until the xpac at the earliest, thanks to the inflation of raid difficulty/stats over LK.

but no, we wont be the next paladins. even playing feral like a total facerolling dumbass wont get you as far as doing the same with paladin. ferals also dont have the fallback of an immunity bubble in fase things go south, and thus are much more vulnerable to focused casting dps than pretty much any paladin is.

Ya, I get FF a lot in arena.

If they stun me and can blow me up before I can go bear its GG.

If I can get into bear form then its a different story. Pulling off a 5 CP Maim, blast an instant Cyclone and proceeding to rape face has a similar affect.

Can still destroy rogues 1v1 if he doesn't have an obscene CD advantage. That got us 4 wins easily last night.

the only thing Druid specific I've seen is "Malfurion's back." All the elemental stuff is a Shaman thing.

Storyline wise whenever the Emerald Dream is largely covered, it will be our time to shine. :D
Of course druids will be distressed in the coming events and would work diligently to help fix the balance of anything gone awry but I agree with Micros the elements would be more of the Shaman's concern.

As for ZOMG OP. All classes should be roughly the same as far as balance, at least we know that is what Blizzard strives for. We know that it is an ever evolving process and as the pendulum of game balance swings; tomorrows buffs are next months nerfs. Maybe you should just play a class you enjoy playing instead of playing the flavor of the month.
