I am playing my very first toon which is a lvl 8 rogue at the time of this posting. Are there any essential addons that I should be looking for both class specific and in general? Also where is the best website to download the addons from? Any help, advice, and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also my 2 professions are skinning and mining and I am working on cooking and firstaid as well.

At this early in the game for yourself, I wouldn't worry too much about addons at this time. Just enjoy playing your toon and learning their mechanics.

Once you start getting up into the higher levels and eventually raiding, you'd want to get (what many would call) the essentials : Deadly Boss Mods, Omen, Recount (to see your damage done and dps), etc. These you can usually get off of Curse.com or WoWInterface.

But like I said, I wouldn't worry about downloading them at this time. Eventually, you can start playing with the many different types of addons out there and see what you like. Some enjoy a timer that shows when certain abilities are off cooldown, while others don't really care much about it.

As for your professions, it sounds like you've got an idea on what you need to do. Keep first aid as much up to par with your character as you can, because at the beginning levels, you'll be bandaging quite often.

Quest Helper, Quest Helper, Quest Helper.

wow.curse.com

get their client, its like a direct addon management program, use it to search, download and update addons, it tells you when theres updates to addons you already have.

Curse is good but you may just prefer Carbonite over Quest helper as they both do similar things .

Tips i can give are read the top posts as they might be a little outdated in places but are a pretty good guide as how to progress with talent trees and weapon usage .

Skinning and Mining are pretty good for gold making and of course the small bonus stats will help you , cooking is well worth it for the extra stamina bonus and other stats from eating and first aid will help a lot as at times you will need to heal fast so it looks like you have the right ideas there.

As it is your first character and i am pretty sure you will struggle with making gold at first then one addon you may like is Auctioneer Suite as it will help you sell in the auction house as it should with use give you a pretty good idea of the price stuff will sell at . Try not to buy from the auction house though unless the item is cheap .

One other tip is try and get the biggest bags you can afford , bigger bags = longer questing = more gold for you , if you join a guild there may be someone willing to provide you with bags cheap or free but do not expect it as not all are willing to help that way.
