Gearing Options / Emblem of Triumph helpFollow

#1 Sep 18 2009 at 3:05 AM Rating: Decent
Hey guys,

I recently got back into my mage after a one year break and was looking for some help on gear.

Here is my armory link : http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Jubei%27Thos&n=Deathfrost

I notice my hit rating is a bit low and in 10 mans where there isnt a boomkin or a spriest i notice a few fireballs missing..

I currently have 30 emblems of triumph and was thinking of saving 50 for my t9 chest which would help out my hit rating, please advise which would be the best triumph upgrade for me.

On side note, i currently have 1800 relentless mh/oh coming which should help out.

Thanks in advance,

I'd say the wand. It's pretty cheap at 18 triumph emblems, and it's got quite a bit of hit on it. There's some pretty good rings too.

I want to say that someone recently mentioned that the chestpiece on that set is the weakest of the T9 pieces. Replacing your Mark of the War Prisoner with a Mark of SupremacyShard of the Crystal Heart feels to me like the right choice in the long run, though the short term tells me you should get another piece of T9 first for the set bonus, which leads me to say that the best long term solution is to get the Helmet and then the trinket.

Edit: I didn't even think about the wand. That's a pretty decent upgrade on Hit you could get for cheap, as mentioned by PigtailsOfDoom.
Edit2: Linked the right trinket. Smiley: tongue

Umm Pold, Mark of Supremacy is attack power, not spellpower.

As Pold remarked, the chest piece is the weakest of the T9 set, so if you are raiding that content I wouldn't get that, but instead focus on the other 4 and make the chest off-set.

There were two trinkets. I meant the one with Hit and Haste on Use. Smiley: tongue

Not as happy as I would have hoped :-(

The trinket is decent, but seeing how they are already over hit cap, I think that there would be a bigger dps increase from a piece of tier gear to replace the Naxx stuff than to use a minor upgrade with an on-use trinket. Would be better off trying to run Naxx25/etc to get A Dying Curse.

So am i getting t9 head or the trinket ? :P

Why not check out Rawr and see what the biggest DPS increase would be for you. It may not be the head and instead may be shoulders or some other set piece.

Hmmmm weird, Rawr is showing the t9 chest piece to be a much bigger upgrade than upgrading from t8.5 head to t9 head

His problem was partially because they don't have the +hit debuff in their 10 mans, so I don't think he's over the cap for that, hence the suggestion.

That's because of the chestpiece you have currently. If you look long term and plan on a better chestpiece in that slot(like maybe the one I'm wearing), you'll find the long term benefits greater that way.

I get that, he is sitting at 16% hit self-buffed, leaving room for 1% to miss. Now that generally comes down to preference, him (?) needing another 27 hit rating to be capped, or to go for what gives more dps and pick up and mix/match gear to hit that point.

As for the dps difference, I would hope that it would give a bigger dps increase for the non-set chest -> t9 chest than t8.5 helm -> t9 helm. You have to look at the item level difference. I see that you already have the gloves, I would check out the shoulders, as those are 213 as well, same with your legs.
