Which is better for healing?Follow

Grid or healbot?

I have a UI interface that I really like: Cherti UI which comes with Grid. I've used Healbot in the past with my druid and really liked it, but I've heard Grid works well too. If my UI already comes with Grid, will that be fine, or do you all think that Healbot is better? Is there a way to set up Grid to assign mouse buttons to different heals like with Healbot?

Grid is better.

The debate between which is better is long-standing and quite divided, so no doubt someone else will post here saying "No wai! Healbot is teh leet stuffz" but frankly it doesn't matter.

Grid is more customizable and you can download a heap of plugins that help you streamline your role to a greater degree.

Healbot is user friendly and simple.

The reason I use grid is I started with grid, got used to it, swapped to healbot to see what it was like and swapped back the next day.

Also, Grid doesn't come with the mouse button assignments by itself, but mouseover macro's or a nice little addon I use called Clique makes them for you. Clique takes about 30s to set up, it's very easy.

I prefer to use Healbot, with the addition of Lifebloomer for tank frames only. I like Lifebloomer for the tanks because it gives me latency-adjusted visual references for each HoT, as well as a very noticeable GCD reference.

Really though, it's all a matter of what suits you best...everyone likes different things!

Grid, because it fits so well into my UI.

I have my party frames set up so that they're all gathered in one place, with in-range being highlighted and out-of-range fading to gray. I then use mouse-over macros to cast without selecting a target.

All those heal-frame addons are so ugly, in my opinion and with this setup, I can easily keep track of an entire raid, provided they're within distance (otherwise they'll fade and I won't be able to heal them anyway).

I really never got used to use one or another. I dunno, got used to Pitbull frames. Dont really see a need to either.

The best raid frame is the one that fits you best. The one that conveys the information you need in the cleanest way for you to pick it up. The one that has its configuration options laid out the way you understand them and can use them to their best effect. The one that fits into your UI setup without getting in the way of seeing void zones under your feet. The one that doesn't slow down your computer to the point where you get 5fps in a 25-man. The one with a macro interface that meshes with your healing style.

The best raid frame is different for everyone.

For me, it's Grid with a combination of Clique and mouseover macros. Healbot is a fine alternative, among others, but I like Grid's power, and I've invested enough effort over time in figuring out how to configure it that I'm not daunted by that anymore. But that's me. Find the one that works for you.

I use Grid to heal. No mouse overs yet just select target and hit some keybind.

I use Grid for frames on my drood as well but I rarely heal with him so they are in a different location.

All right, thanks everyone for your opinion. I'll give grid + clique a try and see how that works.

As far as the 5 fps in 25 man raids go, I already get that lol. I only have the laptop I bought for school two years ago, and the graphics card really stinks (despite me picking the very best one available for the model at that time). I'm looking to hopefully buy a decent desk top in the next few months, but we'll see.

I have used these two articles to set up my grid with HoT counters & timers: -

http://treebarkjacket.blogspot.com/2009/01/how-to-grid-hot-tracking.html

http://treebarkjacket.blogspot.com/2009/01/grid-followup-copy-my-layout.html

I've moved a few things around but basically that's it.

Then with clique I have: -

left click - Lifebloom
right click - rejuv
alt left - regrowth
alt right - nourish
thumb button - HT
alt thumb - Wild growth
1 - NS
2 - Swiftmend
shift left - decurse
shift right - depoison
alt-shift left - MotW
alt-shift right - thorns
ctrl-shift left - GotW

I really need to just change the HT a macro that does NS-HT in combat and HT out of combat.
