Shadow Tailoring GearFollow

Okay, I know this must be a dumb question, and I probably missed a thread (or something in the stickies) about this.

My priest is a tailor. She's slowly getting close to be able to craft the level 80 purples. I was looking at the different types of items I can get and trying to decide which specialization to go into, and I'm a bit confused.

I would think something like the Moonshroud stuff would be the best for a shadow priest due to the hit. Then again, there's the other two which one has spirit and the other has haste.

Would it be best if I make the Moonshroud stuff, or is it all really dependant on what I actually need? Such as being hit capped, and not needing the hit?

I would assume that once I hit 80, I still won't be hit capped (or near it), so the Moonshroud stuff would benefit me at the beginning.

Thanks for any input!

First, I think you're getting ebonweave and moonshroud confused? Moonshroud has spirit, not hit. IIRC, it's the ebonweave stuff that has hit and spellweave has haste.

With the corresponding BC specializations, the traditional route was mooncloth for healers, shadowcloth for warlocks and spriests, and spellcloth for mages. Now the distinctions aren't quite so clear; some healing specs don't make as much use of spirit, for example, and the fire/arcane damage and shadow/frost damage stats aren't there anymore.

Bottom line, you can mix the pieces as you see fit, since there are no set bonuses to worry about. Specialize in whichever one you think you'll use most. But bear in mind that all your specialty means is you get two pieces at a time for one set of mats. You can always make all three kinds.

Edited to add: also worth noting that the cooldown on cloth is not shared, so you can be working on several pieces at a time.

Yeah you're right. I knew it was Ebonweave for the hit, I just confused them.

Anywho, thanks a bunch! I knew about the whole being able to make each cloth but the specialization allowing you to produce more, I was just wondering what a lot of spriests usually go for. I guess I'll mainly have to see what I'll need when I get to that bridge.

I couldn't remember whether or not there was a set bonus, so it's good to know that there isn't one as well.

Thanks again! Smiley: tongue

And really about the CD? Awesome, that definitely is good to know!

Gawd, you are SO HIGH MAINTENANCE! There you go wanting me to answer the question you asked again. You make me pout.

IOW, I dunno. But! If your needs change over time, you can also always respecialize for a fee (150g?). Back in BC if you changed specializations or dropped tailoring, it was bye bye primal mooncloth set, but that's all changed now. The pieces are all BOE and can be worn by anyone, regardless of whether they're tailors or what their specialization is, so you can just engage in all the tailoring anarchy you want.

But TBH, the crafted epics you start with are not that impressive. By the time you don't need the hit anymore you'll probably have better gear anyway.

I am! You MUST answer every single question I ask, damn it! Smiley: wink

I thought they took away the fee for respecializationingnessess...ess... and added a quest or something like that. (I'll have to look it up in the patch notes, but I thought I heard something about it. Maybe it was to add the gold fee instead of having to do the quests over /facepalm).

I'm at work, don't make fun of my and my not knowingness!

Okay... I'm done.

Thanks again, Teacake.
