PVP itemization - what're you buying this season?Follow

I'm going 4 Satin/1 Mooncloth with hit and spirit offpieces. And if I can get around 900 resil (I won't have any arena gear so that's actually a fairly lofty goal), I'm going to start gemming for intellect instead.

Spell pen is all the rage these days, but I'm just doing the cloak enchant and 1 blue slot gem, which will probably only put me at about 40 or so.

I'm not buying any of the Wintergrasp haste pieces. I know, right? And despite its crappy item level, I still love my Flow of Knowledge and am considering going with that over the Platinum Disks. Controversial!

You?

If I'd PvP as a priest, I'd go for 900-1000 resi, ignore crit-based talents like Divine Aegis and stack haste. It might be too early to say, but seeing as haste will only get better...

I’m sporting satin head/chest/shoulders/gloves and WG pants, and I gem/enchant for resilience, getting socket bonuses using stam/res and SP/res. I’m freakishly hard to kill, and getting restoration from my teammate (I run priest/rogue/frost mage and priest/rogue/ret pally) means my mana regen is okay despite my lower spirit. I do spec into Divine Aegis, which I feel is more effective in the field than theorycrafting numbers predicts.

Stacking more haste wouldn’t help me too much, as I already keep Borrowed Time up much of the time, and my reaction time is pretty much at its limit. I do have hyperspeed gloves and power infusion macro’d into my Mana Burn and Holy Fire for the rare occasions when I can sit back and cast.

I'd give up, like, my dog before I gave up Divine Aegis. Okay not really. But I like Divine Aegis. A lot. It equates to more time and mana for me to take away from my healing targets and smite down the bad guys.

I stack crit as much for Penance though. With three chances to crit I like bringing up my odds as much as possible.

I recognize the theoretical value of stacking haste, but I just don't have room for one more stat to prioritize without spreading them all too thin. And it's never been the top priority for me. I think some people love crit and some love haste, and you just need to find out which you are and be that.

I focused on resilience and think I am sitting around 935. It's enough to make myself annoying to the opposing side in Wintergrasp.

Don't be silly. That's not what makes you annoying to the other side. You're a dwarf. You were already annoying.

My pvp gear is in a good place atm, haven't got the arena rating for the new arena stuff yet but have the 3 new offset pieces. I went with 2 haste pieces and 1 spirit piece. I've noticed that I can get battered pretty fast against double dps teams in 2s even with 1000 resi so the extra haste is really helping. Also using a haste staff from pve to augment along with the Sif's Remembrance trinket to augment mana regen. Think I'll go for regen pieces from now on though, about 350ish haste seems to be working nicely. As for gemming I'm going to stick with largely sp/stam for the moment which seems to be working out ok so far. If theres a yellow socket bonus worth going for I tend to put a resilience JC prismatic in there.

True, dwarves are still small so you want to stomp them flat, but they're just a little too big for that. :(

Funny that I play a dwarf, since irl I'm 6'4".

Hmm. Maybe this can be applied to me playing ***-kicking size two girls with perfectly manicured nails and creepy glowing eyes. Because irl my nails are not that well kept.

Are you going to start a gnome priest when the expansion comes out? And if so, can you tell me which battlegroup, so I can crush you like a bug be summarily killed as I fail to swat you while you fly around me in those crazy boots?

I'm replying to my own thread because I loooovvves myself.

I changed my mind. I'm going 4 Mooncloth/1 Satin rather than the reverse. I loves me some crit, but even just looking at my leveling gear now, I think I've taken my "meh, Disc priests don't need Spirit" attitude a bit too far. Yesterday? I had to... this is hard for me to say, but... drink! I know right? I'm thinking of how tiny that mana pool is in PVP gear and I'm just frightened.

For offpieces once I fill in my hit I can play with crit/spirit and move stuff around. I'm thinking MP5 for some of those too; doesn't the math say MP5 is generally better for Disc than Spirit?

Edit: an answer to that question from the math guys:

It takes approximately 3 Spi to equal 1 mp5
