Difference between Shadow gear and Discipline Gear?Follow

Is there a difference between proper gear for the two specs? I ask because I'm using the same gear for shadow (which I use when questing or dps'ing) and Discipline (which I use when healing). Up until Northrend, I healed pretty well, although I didn't do much. Now, at level 73, I'm having a hard time healing UK and Nexus. I'll link my armory, maybe you smarter than me people can tell me why? :). Thanks.

It looks like you're stacking spellpower and int which are what you want first and second, so that's all good. You've only got one piece with hit on it so that shouldn't be a big deal, but you could get a different ring to swap out for healing.

The only issue I see is that you've got essentially no crit. I would not prioritize haste over crit for Disc healing. You might find a couple of crit pieces to swap around.

Are you leveling on a PVP server? You've got stamina on almost every piece and you can do with some pieces that have no stam but higher caster stats for your healing set as well.

That said, I really don't see any glaring problems that would make healing low level Northrend instances a problem. What kinds of problems are you having?

Teacake = awesome.

Basically the only difference is Hit vs mp5. It's the general stat that makes an item "DPS" vs "healer" in groups. A DPS rolling against a healer on mp5 = bad manners, regardless upgrade, same as Healer rolling on Hit. The reason is MOST items with hit or mp5 have an exact opposite(basically same stats but hit/mp5 swapped).

Well, its a matter of my heals not being very powerful, that could be because of the crit? The bosses just hit hard, I guess, too hard for my heals to match them. I'm on a PvE server, so I'll look into finding more healer friendly gear too, even if it means crafting some.

Well Disc is not about big heals at all. Slam high on Int and SP for bigger PW:Shield and better Rapture returns.

The whole point of Disc is Shield, DoT, sleep.
No, seriously.

Just did a run in Nexus as 70 with a 71 DK tank in only 2 pieces of tank gear. PW:Shield, Renew, Prayer of Mending.

Then tossed a Shield on others as needed and the occasional Renew. Penance was used every so often on tank.

When we pulled 3 groups at once, Pain Suppression, spammed Shields and Renews. 500mp5 meant not a single time below 70% mana. Was nuts.

As Disc just focus on keeping your Shield and Renew up and you'll be fine. If not, it's the tank, not you.

As has been said before, shadow gear has hit.

Also, disc ought to focus a little less on haste (imo, though).

I believe after 30% crit you want to start focusing on hast over crit.

Also, you probably want to have some extra pieces around so you can switch out for more spirit/MP5 when you need it and less when you don't. It's rare for me to have mana problems when I'm disc but it does happen on certain fights.
