I don't get to play that much, just looking for some suggestions and comments. I've been 80 for a month, running heroics here and there.

Warlocks fo life!

Your spec seems fine but your gem choices are really wonky. You never want to socket pure blue gems always go with a purple gem if you need to fulfill a blue socket or meta requirement. 2 I would really suggest updating all your gems to WotLK blue quality gems or at the very least perfect quality green gems if you don't want to spend the money. For your meta gem you want to use the 21 crit rating 3% crit chance gem the extra intellect isn't needed when you can lifetap and that makes the other gem a better choice.

Also I would suggest just getting the 2 blue gems you need to activate the meta, use the purple +sp/spirit gems purified, and then filling the rest with red gems. This may change depending on the socket bonus but for most things they aren't worth socketing for.

Other then that I might suggest buying one of the crafted robes and running ToC, the five man, to get a better weapon.

I would remove the 2 points from Imp. Drain Soul, the point from Dark Pact, and a point or two from Eradication. Place them in Demonic Power and a point or two in cataclysm. Use your succubus as your go to pet.

Dark Pact is a leveling talent. And Imp Drain sould really isn't needed unless you have threat problems. Which you shouldn't with your gear unless your tank is terribad.

Never gem with Blue or Yellow gems. Use purple and orange if you need to fulfill a socket bonus (if it is even worth getting). The only Single stat gem you should use is Red for the SP.

Enchant your gear. Nothing is enchanted.

Run Normal TOC and get a new trinket. Abyssal Rune is a great 200 lvl trinket. Run heroics and get the badge gear. Aim for gear with +Hit. You are way under cap. If you have minimal time to play heroics will get you the best bang for your time for gear.

I did a bunch of runs this weekend. With a finale of downing a few bosses in Ulduar 10.

My biggest pick up was my new sword. Sweet! How am I looking now?

Refer to my above pst about your spec. Imp Drain soul should be specced only if you have aggro issues and have extra points (by not needing suppression anymore). Not meant as an insult, but with your gear you shouldn't have to worry about your threat. Dark pact is a leveling talent. Not PvE. You have lifetap for regaining mana.

Get your Hodir enchant for your shoulders

Change your Head enchant. MP5 is for healers. Get the +30 SP and +20 Crit

Change your Meta gem, you should use the Chaotic Skyflare

Enchant your legs

Put a belt buckle and a gem on your belt

Nice sword, just enchant it. And make sure you put a spellstone on it in raid.

Enchant your bracers

Change the enchant on your chest to +10 to stats (or +8 if you can't afford +10)

Enchant your cloak

Get rid of the glyph of Corruption and replace it with Lifetap.

It's coming together, just needs some tweaking. Many upgrades you can use specifically trinkets and your offhand. Work on your +hit rating. You want to be around 362 (I think that's right)

Thanks again for the input. I will move those points around tonight. My next badge purchase is going towards a belt, and hopefully I can some enchants on the cheap and that new glyph.

Also I was having a conversation about Affliction vs. Destro. Guy saying I should switch from affliction. Thoughts?

I would stick with Affliction until your hit/haste rating are a good bit higher. Destro is the more gear dependent spec. Haste greatly impacts Destro over Affliction. But Hit rating is important for both.

Your gear is ok, but like others said, your gems and enchant choices could be suspect. I'm not sure what gear you have stocked away, but your crit is relatively high for what you have on sp/hit/haste. All 3 of those should be higher on your priority list to gear toward than crit.

Again, I'm not sure if you are choosing to gear crit or crit gear just happen to drop your way.

Again thanks for the input. I have that MP5 enchant on my helm because i just happened to raise my Wyrmrest rep first. I am close to revered with Kirin Dor and getting that head enchant.

Yeah, I'd definitely work on getting more Hit with what you have. I understand that what drops, drops and sometimes you just get a lot of something you don't really need so much but you can still work with what you have.

Your belt is unsocketed and has no buckle so I think if you change the yellow gem in your robe to +20 hit, buckle the belt and throw another 2 +20 Hits in there you should be sitting a lot better.

As far as repeccing . . . it's up to you really. Yes, the destro spec listed on the forum here is "by-the-book" best for raiding I suppose and I have it as one of my specs, but I kept affliction as my other and it comes in really handy sometimes. If I'm in a group with a newer tank or healer the affliction build works a lot better as I don't pull threat as easily and it provides me far more self healing taking some of the burden from the healer.

Some suggestions:

Head: Lose the +16 spirit gem and add a "purified" gem there instead (+ spellpower/+ spirit).

Neck: Since you are so far under the hit cap, I'd suggest using the yellow sockets to help you with that for now. Especially since this one gives you a bonus of +4 hit, so stick a "rigid" gem in that socket.

Shoulders: I looked and it appears you haven't done the "Sons of Hodir" questline yet to unlock those dailies and start gaining rep with that faction. They give you the best shoulder enchants in WotLK unless you are an Inscriptionist, which you aren't. It is a long quest chain, but fairly easy to solo as an 80. The starting quest is They Took Our Men! which is given by Gretchen Fizzlespark in K3 (in Storm Peaks). You may already be somewhere along the questline if you've quested in Storm Peaks on your way to 80. Once you are neutral with them you can do their quests and dailies as well as turn in Relics of Ulduar (which can be farmed or bought off the AH) to gain reputation with them. You want the Lesser Inscription of the Storm enchant once you are Honored with them, and the Greater Inscription of the Storm once you hit Exalted.

Cloak: You can try and get lucky with a drop to upgrade your cloak, but Disguise of the Kumiho is available for 25 Emblems of Valor. Enchant your cloak with +23 Haste.

Chest: Get rid of the +10 crit gem and put a + hit gem in there. It is generally not that advisable to gem for crit since it scales badly, especially at your level of gear. Hit will get you the best return until you hit the cap. You can throw a "reckless" gem in instead if you want some sp along with the hit rating.

Wrists: Get the +30 sp enchant. Or the +23 sp enchant if you don't want to spend as much.

Offhand: The Ward of the Violet Citadel is available for 25 Emblems of Heroism and offers some more hit rating, which will lessen your dependency on gemming for it.

Waist: Your belt is not gemmed, nor does it have an Eternal Belt Buckle affixed. You can use those slots to fill your needs as well. The Eternal Belt Buckle is nice because it is a prismatic slot and doesn't affect your socket bonus so you can put whatever gem you'd like in there.

Legs: Again, replace the +16 spirit gem as indicated above in the Head section. Keep these two purple gems though as they count as the two blue gems that allow your meta gem to be active. Also, get the Brilliant Spellthread enhancement off the AH and slap it on them.

Rings: Band of Channeled Magic costs 25 Emblems of Valor and would be a good upgrade for you to Signet of Purity.

Trinkets: Run Heroic VH daily and hopefully Mark of the War Prisoner will drop off the last boss for you. Replace your Cannoneer's Fuselighter with it, as it will really help you towards achieving the hit cap, and the On Use bonus is better than that trinket's.

Overall, not bad, you just need to get some items re-gemmed and enchanted. You don't really need any reputation gear, so now if you continue running heroics you can convert those emblems into some nice gear upgrades. I tried to avoid in my suggestions items that require some RNG luck to obtain through dungeon/raid drops.

As an affliction lock you should focus on:

- Hit rating until you are capped (Nowadays we can be fully hit capped, which means we have a 100% chance to hit a raid boss, which is assumed to be 3 levels above you. To do so you need an additional 17% chance to hit through gear since you have an inherent 83% chance to hit a mob that is 3 levels above you in PvE. Since you have 3/3 Suppression talented, you need to find another 14%, or 368 Hit rating, through gear/gems/enchants.)
- Spellpower
- Haste rating
- Critical Strike rating

Again, this is just a general guideline, but one that has been proven mathematically to give you the biggest bang for your buck in terms of dps.

I hope this helps and best of luck!

Wow! Thanks for that last post. This weekend begins the transformation. My dps addon was very kind to me the last few heroics just from a handful of suggested changes. I was peaking at around 1600dps, and now I can easily put out over 2k.

Feeling good about my current setup, my hit is actually at 381 despite what the armory says. =)

My rotation that has been giving me max dps is >>

Open with SB - Haunt - Corruption - CoA - UA , then SB until haunt is up. Also picked up a tip to use Drain Soul when the boss is at %25 in place of SB. I was right behind a guildie lock (slightly better geared than me) in OS25 last right, 9 to his 8 ranked dps.

You still need to enchant your shoulders, back, and legs (Brilliant spell thread is an easy 50sp, 20spi)

I see one huge mistake in your gemming. You should swap a purple gem from your legs to the blue slot in your head piece. And take the hit gem from your head piece and put it in your legs. This will grant you the crit bonus from the head, and sp bonus from the legs. You will still meet the two blue gem req for your crit meta gem.

The info in the armory is wrong on my helm. My meta gem is at full power and I just got my new cloak at logout last night, so no time to enchant yet.

There is something wrong with my quest line for the Sons of Hodir (shoulder enchant) ...I can't figure if I missed a quest somewhere. I have done the Iron Colossus, and done the other giants quest line. I read that the rep starts at K3, but all my quests there have ended.

I can't be sure unless I know the last quest in the series you have done but I want to guess it was Mending Fences if thats the case then check your bags for a slag metal if you don't have that then you have to kill the giants again.

Figured out the Hodir rep problem, and bought some "relics" of the AH for a quick honored rep. Bought the superior shoulder enchant, working my way up to the epic. No warlock or caster gear, except the mage class helm, dropped in Ony 10 the other day.
