Ha! My latest priest project hit the 50's recently so we went into AV (which has long been a favorite BG of mine anyway) and I said the same thing! The xp in there is insane compared to what I've been averaging in WSG or AB. Plus for me it has the added benefit of farming marks to get off the chicken, which is big. Hubby wants to get back to the leveling guide but I'm resisting - I'll take Van over the Un'Goro Crater any day.

Leveled my rogue recently from 76 1/2 to 80 by doing nothing but AV. It's like twice the XP/hour than what you'd normally get from doing quests. Each tower or captain was worth around 20K, which is just about what you get for completing a quest at that level.
So yeah, regardless of class, AV is currently the best way to level a toon. Even more so if you have become sick and tired of doing Northrend quests. The rogue being my 5th level 80 now, I sure have reached that point.

You forgot Screams, Holy Fires, SW: Deaths, Mind Blasts and DoTs.
Then you can not only top healing, but also score high on damage and killing blows.

I use DP often in BGs. Have to squeeze SW:D on a bar some where though as it is not on one now. Might stick it with MB...
I use Scream often as most people have no presence of mind to get DPS of the healer. Well one rogue did, which was really cool as I was drinking for mana and getting some water for me at the time.

Ah, my Blood Elf Shadow Priest went from 52-55 last night, mostly from AV and a couple quests done while waiting for AV to pop. I like shadow so I don't feel as helpless when caught alone (I have an 80 alli shadow priest on another server and I just suck a holy combat), But when I'm in a group, I heal till I'm OOM. AV is one of my new friends, but when I hit 58, I'm going to the outlands to level for a while, want to some gear from out there.
I figure if going through the outlands as my first hordie is still boring, I'll just switch back AV until I hit Northrend.

The benefit to being holy/disc is you can heal instances for gear while waiting to do AV.
I don't think I am going to quest again with this toon.

I've done Outland and most of Northrend a few times so the idea of leveling by just healing AV and instances sounds really appealing.
If you haven't gone through Outland/Northrend at least once I strongly recommend it, especially Northrend. Outland gets more interesting in the zones you wont get into as you will be in Northrend by then thanks to faster leveling.

100% seconded. Leveling via AV is amazing.

But once night time hits, BAM 40v40 and Allies steamroll.

Once I hit 60 I was annoyed, I'm SO burned out on BC. I only have 2 80's and a 60 DK but the quests are ALL THE SAME and I just exalted most of BC on my mage. Then I did AV, FUN!

I also love destroying the healing meters as Disc in AV. Just makes me happy.
I wish I'd taken a screenie the other day of the healing done. I has a bit over 300k and the next highest guy horde or alliance was 180k. I got 2 300k+ healing in AV over the weekend. Was so happy.
We summoned Ivus twice over the weekend.
I'm going to level into the 71-80 bracket soon. Not looking forward to it as I am used to being very hard to kill when I have buttons to push.
