Insect Swarm: Is it in or out?Follow

To you balance druids! In our rotation I remember reading a while back, that IS wasnt really worth putting on mobs becaause it really ended on a loss of DPS in the long run because it really didnt do much damage.

Now taking into account Improve Insect Swarm (assuming this is worth talenting) and the spell itself, is it really worth putting up?

Do you guys use it or whats the news on this?
I've been a little outdated on the moonkin thing since I changed to feral a while back and since I'm pretty much always healing... yeah.

Hope you guys can help, thanks!

IS is a must have. Especially when glyphed.

Switch out Innervate for IS and swap talent points around if you need the mana regen that bad.

Improved Insect Swarm Rank 3

Looking at the talent, there is way more of a reason to have it than just the dot. More damage with wrath, and more crit with starfire.

Mine tics for about 1200 when I'm fully raid buffed, it tics every 2 seconds which is actually really fast. Also if you're rocking 4 piece tier 8 like I am for the moment, it's even more of a must.

IS/MF/Starfire are your glyphs. The only time IS becomes interchangeable is really highly dependant upon the fights you're in.

Lots of adds, you could use starfall.

Not a lot of adds, or none at all. Use IS glyph.

If you really really really wanted too you could build up a mass cache of glyphs and change them out for fights. But normally it's just best to stick with IS.

My recollection from recent reading (and I have been pondering my boomkin off-spec) is that IS+improved+glyph is one of the most effective instant cast DoT spells in game... but then again my brain is old

I've actually had to remove my Moonfire glyph for Anub in ToC, and then I re-equip it afterwards. Makes it a hell of a lot easier when i can run around and moonfire spam the frost spheres.

I just wrath them down.

I'm also usually not taking them down and usually on Anub or the adds.

Maybe.

I still claim it's the Warlock's Corruption spell when fully glyphed and talented.

Imagine Insect Swarm healing you for 40% of the damage done every tick. Now also imagine it being able to crit on ticks. On top of that, imagine it being able to proc an instant cast Starfire on each tick. Finally, imagine Moonfire and Wrath being able to reset the duration of Insect Swarm.

Mmmh, power.
