About AoE frost leveling ... HELP!Follow

Just a little noobish question ....

I'm currently leveling a new alt, I don't have time to raid, nor the willingness to quit 100% it seems. So yeah, I have a level 28 mage, going frost.

Problem is that I can't seem to get the hang of AoE mob farming. I run in, frost nova, blink, blizzard cone of cold. Problem is that this doesn't really burn the mobs down fast enough, so I'm left running about hoping for FN to get off the cooldown so I can throw another blizzard in before I'm killed by the 3-4 mobs that are not really in good terms with me at this stage.

This is my armory ...

Am I doing something wrong? I think the next talent points will go into shatter, cold snap and permafrost (2). Does my specc look bad? Am I missing some important gylph? Or is it just a case of L2P a clothie?

Thanks for any and all advice.

File not found.

At 28 your talents should be this

As you level,

30

35

40

45

50
Enduring Winter, then backtracking.
55

60

65

70
Yay no more frost.
75

78

I stop there because the last two points are 100% floatable. If you find yourself constantly failing at getting away from mobs, Shattered Barrier is for you. If not, 2 Imp Cone of Cold is fine. I personally never used Cone of Cold so found little use for it.

Obviously you can interchange the leveling order, but the way I put it is very efficient and quite easy to work with.

GL as Mage!

I accidentally rated down Sarion, if someone can rate him/(her) up for me I would appreciate it (stupid iPhone!)

But yeah, their progress would work well. When looking for glyphs I would think that frost nova, ice barrier, or iceblock would all be strong contenders.

Not lot i can add apart from i prefer the evocation glyph as that alone has saved me quite a few times , to do the AoE farming takes practice and of course trying not to bite off more than you can chew so if you are trying to farm the same level mobs you are then pick on mobs around two levels lower as i found it a fun way to play and of course they hurt less when things go wrong.

Glyphs are very much up to you when leveling.

I personally went with Mage Armor(50% MP5 while casting = MUST until at least Water Elem+Enduring Winter first.

Beyond that I ended up picking Evocation and Ice Barrier.

However if you want, Water Elem is VERY cool Glyph as it makes you basically have your Elem up 50% of the time, which is a huge boost.

All Anobix said are good too though :D

Thanks for the tips.

I'm almost at 30 now (it's been a boring day IRL) so I guess I'll respecc at 30 and take it from there.

I'm actually having fun with my mage at last (at my 3rd attempt). Here's to finding new stuff in a 5 years old game.

So yeah, gone up a few levels and am now having a blast at AoE frost. I've gone a path which is slightly different in order, but it feels about right for my playstyle.

It's a lot of fun and very different (as you'd expect) from my prior AoE leveling, which was with my main Prot Paladin.
