Um, a little confused about what you're saying/asking here, but just a handful of spells for a new character is absolutely correct. As you level you get more gradually so you can get learn the spells a little at a time rather than have everything thrown at you all at once.

You learn new spells as you progress through the game and it's levels.

All classes have a limited selection of spells at the beginning of the game, but every class in it's own starts to become defined later on in around mid-game/40. Keep at a class, unless it's really not what you want to play as. The game becomes a hell of a lot funner once past the starting regions, as your class develops a role.

I am not sure what you are trying to say but when you create a character you get a few spells that are just enough to kill the first few levels of mobs , and every two levels starting at level two you visit a class trainer to get either improved spells or new spells , some levels you get vastly improved and very nice extra spells but not every time as they have to balance it out through your fight to get to level 80 , i assume that was what you wanted to know and see link for full paladin spell list.

Mine came with Tier 8 and I was like "Hell naw, I don't downgrade for nobody!"

Actually, I can relate to this.

I just started a new pally on a new server. I log in, pick up quests, run to my first mob and!!!!!

I only have one spell. Seal of Righteousness. 30 minute timer.

Since the seal/blessing changes, the low levels are absolutely terrible to level through. I'm pretty sure that's what the OP is asking about.

So OP, yes, that's how it is.

Yeah but it's a bit of a non-whinge, within 20 mins you could be level 8-10.

Yeah, Paladin is kinda boring to level early-level.

You will get recompensed, though, later levels when it goes from 'meh' to 'omg!'.

Ret Paladin, Lv60+, is quite fun IMO. Once you get Level 60-ish, you get all of your nifty little tricks (well, okay, SoV isn't until 64 IIRC), and you really get to enjoy playing the class as it was meant to be played.

Until 40s, just tough it out; you will only have 2 spells that are worth using (Hand of Reckoning and Judgment, maybe an Exorcism now and then when you can fit it in), one to throw down if you pull enough mobs (too much mana usage to use it constantly).

Otherwise, you.... auto attack. lol.

Hey, at least you're not a hunter, eh? hehe. Those guys can go 10-80 with just 2-3 hotkeys. Serpent's Sting and Mend Pet. Maybe a couple Aspects from switching between your DPS one and Viper to restore mana. maybe.

The problem with playing a hunter is getting the key impressions off your face.

Start a human paladin and SS me lvl 10 at 20 minutes. No BoAs, no gear saved up. Just maybe some bags so you don't have to always empty them. :P

Hunters can get to 80 with only a few buttons, its true, but I still enjoyed it far more than I do pally right now. Once you get your pet, you're off and running in the XP department, which makes up for it and then some.
