My Fiancee is playing a warlock and was wondering what the best professions are for this class? Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Ben

I have been rocking Mining + Jewelcrafting. I tend to like being able to make my own rings and jewels. The Stamina bonus from the mining is also fun.

In the end you need to do what is fun for you.

Professions are pretty much a "whatever you want to do" thing. The only real suggestion I have is to stay away from leather working and blacksmithing. Everything else is fine.

yeah it doesn't really matter what you go for... in terms of PVE, they're all identical (though some argue that Blacksmithing + Jewcrafting gives the best performance due to stat scaling bla bla bla).. but for PVP it's different... depends on what you're after really... just tell her to choose what she enjoys/thinks she'll enjoy ^^

I went with Enchanting/Tailoring.

If it is their first toon, Enchanting may not be the way to go as it can be really expensive. Tailoring is really only useful for the lightweave enchant and making some gear you can use while you level.

Enchanting has its obvious benefits.

if you want it cheap and very beneficial for the class... I'd suggest herbalism/alchemy or herbalism/inscription. both are good money makers and very self sustaining (especially the first combination).. as a warlock with the first combination i literally spend almost nothing on raiding other than repairs... and usually i get the guild bank to cover that ^^

I went with tailoring & enchanting.

Both allows you to upgrade your gear, as you level, without the need of instances. Quests, which are the fastest way to level, don't always give great rewards. However, having enchanting, allows you to disenchant most rewards, which can then be put to use as making your gear better.

Only having the 1 toon, I picked my professions carefully, thinking what 2 I would benefit the most from.

Don't forget that with tailoring you can make your lock a 32 slot shard bag, as well as other bags. They can also make a flying carpet. Granted you can get them from other users, I feel it's best to get the mats and make them yourself. Saves you gold.

I make decent gold with enchanting. I constantly see people asking for links to high level enchanting. Users usually pay me a 20g tip for an enchant.

Enchanting materials can be expensive, so I feel it's just easier to be able to enchant your own gear. Materials are fairly easy to come by.

On a first toon I would advice just two plain and simple gathering professions. The crafting you can powerlevel at 80.

Best in my opinion is mining/skinning, although herbing/skinning is nice too. Just do not take mining/herbing because you can only track one type at the time.

Huge money makers as long as you level it up while you go. Be sure to be able to mine/skin everything in the area you are levelling at the moment. If you for example encounter mining nodes you can not mine yet, head back and level mining first. This is very important or you will slack behind further and further and lose a lot of potential income.

At level 80, do whatever you like, you rich B@st@rd! ;-)

I beg to differ. Enchanting (actually DISenchanting) has made me enough gold to purchase 4 epic flyers, plus countless other expensive things from the auction house. All you have to do is think of it as a gathering profession instead of thinking that you should enchant items. It only gets expensive if you want it to be expensive.

I fully agree , some time ago i set up a horde alt on my allied server . A mage with tailoring and enchanting and built up my rested time scanning the auction house and bidding on any low ( underpriced and profitable to disenchant ) start bid items , now i only won perhaps less than 5% of what i was bidding on and by the time my mage got to level 39 had made well over 7000g and got her enchanting maxed and that was also using her tailoring which if you make all the cheapest green items that give you skill points and then disenchant them will leave you with a lot of dusts and shards ect to sell after you have raised your skill in enchanting. I will say it does depend on your server as there will be others doing as i did and it may not be as easy as i found it .

I will also say Auctioneer Suite is probably a must have addon to make life easier unless you understand fully and can profit from your servers prices.
