Hi! My paladin has been prot/ret since the dual spec feature went in. I decided that I'd love to try healing, so I replaced my ret build with a holy build. I threw down a little gold to pick up some extra saronite (I didn't want to spend a lot because I'm saving for flying), got some basic gear made, threw a couple BoE's on, and dug the mats out of the bank for a few enchants. My question is, am I ready to start healing stuff? I don't mean heroics, not right away. I need to get my feet wet in regular instances first. Based on my gear/spellpower, would I be able to handle non-heroic level 80 instances? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Edit: Just realized I forgot to get a shield. Ah well, I've got the bars, just have to get the smith.

At a glance, I'd say yes you are fine to start healing non-heroics. If you find yourself an overgeared tank, you'd probably be ok with some of the easy heroics also.

Check out the sticky for the pre-raid gear lists. Once you get comfortable with heroics, you'll gear up pretty fast through badgers. A boost through Naxx wouldn't hurt either :D

Should be fine for non-HC's, even some of the easier HC's.

Running the same thing over and over doesn't give me a variety of experiences to draw from, though. I ran reg. HoL, reg UP, and reg CoS tonight so far, about to hit Heroic Nexus to see how I do there. I've picked up a few upgrades, crafted and drops, the past couple days, so wish me luck!

No, it doesn't give you much variety, but ToC is a good place to get some nice upgrades since it's all epic iLvl200 gear, and while not variety it is still experience.

Oh, and good luck ;D

Right now, healing heroics = bad. Not enough spellpower, could use a bit more mana too. Nexus was tough, but we did it, and it was fun! Time to spam regular instances, or, as people suggested, get carried through higher end stuff.

Farming ToC will give you good gear quickly and get you into heroics faster (within a day if you run if a few times). From there, you can start gathering conquest badges for tier 8.5 pieces and triumph badges from the heroic daily (15 heroic dailies and you can have a piece of T9!).

ToC is a new 80's (or new spec's) best friend in the game.
