It's time to clean the house, hang the flag, hang up ornaments and bake a pie (cake?). Let's open the door, because our new guests will arrive with the coming of cataclysm to join our ranks. I am ofcourse talking about the new priest/race combos. Lets take a look at what we'll get, shall we?

Gnome Priest: FINALLY! Blizzard combined my favorite class with my favorite race. Lorewise it fits quite well, because there seem to be gnomes in Gnomeregan that heal their friends with magic. Although only few channel their magic into the holy way, there a some that do and luckily they will be playable in the next Xpac.

Tauren Priest: I am not sure in what way the tauren will see 'the light', but I am sure Blizzard will come up with some matching lore that will explain their sudden love for holy power, both for priests and pallies alike. In addition, I think that (male) tauren in shadowform will look quite epic.

Worgen Priest: Why not? They were humans once and humans can be priests, so why not the worgen. Also, worgen in shadowform will look cool, promised Blizzard us (especially females).

Goblin Priest: I am not sure what to say here. Maybe they wield the priestly power from their own origin or maybe they learned from the trolls. Not being familiar with goblin lore I will let Blizzard surprise me. Anyway, they are more then welcome in my eyes.

This leaves us with orcs as the only race that can't be a priest, but considering their culture and lore it makes sense that they can't be.

So, I am quite happy with the additions to the priest-class.
I would like to know from you fellowpriests (and other classes as well ofcourse) out there what your takes are on these changes. Are you happy, angry, sad or indifferent about all this?

I'm in favor of people having choices, and priests are an awesome class. I welcome all those who choose to play a new priest.

I'm indifferent toward the priest changes, mainly because I'm selfish and won't be playing any of those races myself anyway. But I agree that more choices is generally better, so I certainly don't mind them.

I've been WTB a new race for druids for ages now. That'll be what I level up to check out the new 1-60 questing.

I'm skeptic of Tauren Priests (not as much as tauren paladins though) and gnome and goblin priests don't really seem to fit in either unless they get some mechanical way of having the power of the light flow through them during the starting quests.
(like a nuclear accident or some such thing)

I'm sure that Blizzard will have the starting area trainers for all those class/race combinations toss out a little blurb justifying their existence, which is all the band-aid we need to accept them into the fold.

Gnome racials seem good for priest PVE (+int!) and PVP (escape!) alike. Worgen racials seem best suited for shadow (+damage), but the movement boost seems useful in PVP. Goblin racials are kinda good for PVP (+haste), but better for PVP (rocket jump! Plus levitate!) Tauren Priests will also be PVP monsters, with extra health and warstomp.

I suspect most of the new priests we’ll see will be Worgen though. The race is monumentally more popular than the goblins in every group I’ve talked to.

Obviously you've been talking to the wrong people. I'll be rerolling a Goblin mage myself, because...... GOBLINS!

That said, I'm thinking Goblin priests with their reverse-disengage could be fairly effective in PvP. Either way, a jump away > a sprint because sprint is diminished by snares while a jump isn't. Tauren priests just confuse me, it would look seriousl odd to see a Tauren wear cloth. Of course not a lot can be said about PvP since CaC will change it completely (CC might be king of the game again in which case Forsaken rule the field... Or snares will end up being pro in which case the rocket belt pwns everything - who knows?), but as a very early prediction I'm saying that horde-side, we'll see the best PvPing priests playing Tauren and Undead (because generally breaking a full incapacitation effect > breaking a snare) while alliance-side, Humans will remain the top race for PvPing priests because of their OP racial. A sprint isn't that good for a priest - while our problem is mobility, we spend 90% of our time being snared down anyway; if you want to go for mobility you'd need a snap effect like the rocket belt.

If it uses the same mechanics as Disengage, it will interact with Levitate in very interesting ways. Jumping across WSG with the flag, anyone?

So that's what you meant! Shame on me for not realizing that. Heck, good point, it will interact with Levitate in seriously interesting ways. A free Lumber Mill to Blacksmith (or even Mine?) of our own indeed!

Very excited ^_^ totally bummed I'm horde and the allies get a wrogen... I really wanted a worgen shadowpriest! But maybe they will have that "change yor faction" option up and my second horde priest can go worgen >:) even though the worgen racials do not seem to lend themselves to priests.... thats alright.

I acually thought of you while spamming F5 on my computer at work. I saw the live blog listing the races who can now be druids and believe I heard a sigh of relief.

If we pop our body and soul bubble.... WHEEE!!! LoL

I have not seen a ton of info on the stat changes, the reworking of mana replenishment (again!), and spellpower... But I am feeling a little less anxiety over it as a holy priest. We already stack int for the mana pool and we usually tend to go for the gear with spirit on it. I hope this whole stat change makes it easy to have one set of gear for holy and shadow without having to worry much about regemming everything.
What they have instore for our talent trees and this path of the titans will be interesting :)

Does F5 have something to do with Rule 34? Smiley: dubious

I actually did not know this shortcut and my mind considered different things that it would do. As my finger slowly went toward the F5 key, this jumped into my head and gave me pause to chuckle at my own noobishness.

^ ^ ^ ^ lol! I did the SAME thing... Someone had posted in the comments section that 'they were hitting F5 as fast as the could in their cubicle and that the bloggers needed to type faster'. I had just been hitting refresh at the top, then I was like... "F5, hmm... will it make my computer blow up? Is this a trick?!" needless to say this stupid piece of office crap is still "running"...
