Firestone vs Spellstone :: Free Realms

I ran a heroic ToC run today and their was another lock in the group. As far as gear, mine was better geared than his. Both of us were demo spec. I used a firestone and he used a spellstone. Our dps was about the same, which confused me, due to his lower quality gear.

Now I'm a bit confused. Granted it was a few patches ago, but I was told I should use firestones and not spellstones.

Which stone is best for each spec and why?

For affliction and demonology use the spellstone, for destruction use the firestone. Hastes scales better than crit, plus the fact that you get more haste than you do crit and it makes the spellstone the choice. However, with a destro build the 1% bonus to direct damage spells makes the firestone slightly better for that spec. For destruction the 2 stones are very close in terms of the damage boost you get with the firestone barely winning, but for affliction and demon spec the spellstone is far greater.

as butch said.. spellstone > firestone for your spec.

to explain a bit further... crit is SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT for all warlock specs, even destro.. BUT as a 0/13/58 or 3/13/55 spec, firestone JUST beats the spellstone because of the increased direct damage.. the benefit from the crit is pathetic and well.. you still gain more benefit from haste.. but due to how little of your damage is dot based, the firestone wins in the end.. so other than those 2 specs, the spellstone is the better stone
