I've been a mage for over 2 years. No hit on gear, not worrying about mana regen, etc.. As Kelly Bundy said "the mind wobbles" Truly, I'm trying to get my head around what this means for us. I know it's only a game, but I spend a significant amount of my leisure time with this game and this is to much change for me. Hold me, I'm scared. Seriously though, I'd like some input on what this means from some of the veterans here.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the concepts myself, tbh.

I'm not sure what you are talking about, do you mean the lack of needing spirit... again, or the fact that spellpower is going away into Intellect?

I'm personally looking at the lack of spirit on gear and how exactly that's gonna work for us.

Yeah the changes look really odd, yet interesting too. I'm pretty excited. Smiley: grin

Well looks like we will go back to how we were pre-3.08/3.09 when spirit had 0 affect on us (relatively). And the same with warlocks in TBC. I don't think it is that earth changing.

But what does that mean for our mana? Is our regen gonna fully come from replenishment and int? Or is regen something we'll ignore entirely? That's what I want to know.

probably going to come from replenishment that will scale with your total mana or something I would guess.

What about the hit change? Didn't they say yesterday that +hit wasn't going to be on gear anymore.

I haven't seen anything about them getting rid of hit. Haste yes, not hit though.

I believe they are getting rid of/changing:

spellpower (nixed)
int (changed = spellpower)
haste (changed - not for casters, will change regeneration rate of focus/energy/etc)
spirit (nixed for dps)
armor pen (nixed)
defense (nixed)
block (changed)

those are all that I am aware of.

The way I see it, they're just completely revamping the stats system in a positive way. I loved it when in one of the panels one of the devs said about the inhabitants of Azeroth "What they thought they knew about the world has been completely changed", because that goes for WoW *players* just as well.

From the way they're bringing it, I'm really looking forward to it - they seem to want to get DPS classes back on focusing on their DPS/rotations/'priorities' rather than managing their resources. The game will basically be de-homogenized in that DPS will actually focus on doing DPS and not much else; they won't have to watch their mana regeneration in the way healers do. Because of this stat simplification I predict that mages will simply go for intellect and haste (possibly after getting hit capped if such a thing will still exist) and that the discussions about 'mage DPS' will shift (pretty much) entirely onto rotations/priorities and away from specs/gearing.

The times they are-a changing!

Heck, I'm seriously considering rerolling mage myself.

I agree with what you are saying, just that they are getting rid of Haste for casters as a stat, it will affect regeneration rates, not cast speeds from the current look of it. So I see stack int and crit (until diminishing returns).
