My friend watching the class/race/items panel says they're getting rid of mana for hunters. Hmmm...

Apparently switching to a system more like rogues/kitty druids.

Yeah, we'll be much more like rogues.
Which also means much more burst, because if we use less abilities they'll have to hit harder to have the same dps overall.

Higher damage + frontloading a bunch of abilities = Burst.

Don't forget they also said they're changing how haste works, and it will affect your resource regeneration/expense rather than just increasing your white damage speed. They want haste to be "doing more, faster" so in that regard I wouldn't necessarily assume hunter dps will switch to an instagib mode where you fire 4 shots every 10 sec and then wait for regen.

Perhaps, a talent much like Go for the Throat will begin to exist on hunter pet talent trees.

Your pets critical strikes causes you to gain X amount of focus?

Maybe in pvp you can consider a rogue's damage "bursty," but in a raid the rogue playstyle allows for high, infinitely sustainable dps. Hardly what I would consider burst. I'm an old rogue, and have always loved energy over and above mana, runic power, rage, etc.

I've been quietly leveling a hunter for some time now. He's level 71 atm, and I'm quite excited about the coming changes. I'm sure it will be one hell of an adjustment for older hunters - but I think in the end it will be a better system of play. Also I believe it will help separate the good hunters from the huntards.

I keep hearing the new system being compared to rogues or druids. To me this this implies the introduction of combo points. Is this the case or is it more of a pure throttling system like our pets currently have?

I doubt they'll add CP; changing to Focus just means you get to ignore a stat (Intellect) as your resource procurement will be directly tied to your own inherent abilities instead of relying on a proper group composition/buffs to maintain damage for long periods.

soon gear will no longer have stats. It will just have power, which will improve your character by a certain amount based on blizzard formulas. New gear will be as simple as "does it have higher power"

All things considered, I'm pretty sure this would be more traumatizing...especially having seen one in a Fancy Black Dress (and nothing else Smiley: yikes)

I also have a level 75 draenei shaman who will soon be a troll shaman.
Probably male because I doubt I can find a good looking female troll.

Yeah, I'm sorry... I just don't like the female troll model.

Edit: I'm still tempted to roll with female anyway and call her Cheeky (because yes, Cheeky did indeed play a female troll)

It is pretty leggy, without the curves of a female night elf...so I can definitely understand why a lot of folks don't like female trolls. I've seen pictures of the old female troll design where it was more hunched over like the males, and I think I might have preferred that just because the current model doesn't really look troll-ish at all.

Also we troll chicks have a choice of one decent face, no good hairstyles, and we never, ever blink.

*creepy stare*
