Disc/Shadow PrioritiesFollow

#1 Aug 21 2009 at 8:29 AM Rating: Decent
I've jumped into leveling my Priest(up to 23 now, woo!) and it's a decent amount of fun. I went Shadow first, got bored, went Disc. Holy Fire is just too awesome to not be priority, so I just Holy Fire -> Smite -> Smite -> Wand(got the blue wand from BFD which is made for late 20's early 30's but has no lvl req so is way OP :D).

But my focus is more level 80, I figure in a week or two I'll be there pending play time and if I get on my Mage at all or not.

For Priest I have NO idea on stat priority.

So....

How much Hit do I want for my Shadow spec?

Do I ALWAYS prioritize MP5, Haste, or Crit as Disc?

How much Haste vs Crit vs SP for Shadow?

Seeing as you're still leveling, you'll want to prioritize intellect above everything else. Maybe grab some spirit once you reach 30. That's really about it, spellpower should come naturally. I really wouldn't worry too much about stat priority just yet - priests aren't that gear dependant and it won't matter too much 'till 80.

That said, if you want end-game stat priority's, check the sticky.

I checked em. They are massively out of date and have almost no useful data. In fact one still thinks level cap is 70 >_>

For discipline PVE, stack spellpower for thouroughput and intellect for mana regeneration. Crit and haste are both useful. Given a choice between equal amounts of each, I take crit over haste, since Borrowed Time means we’re near the GCD limit for most of our casts anyway, and since Divine Aegis is our schtick we might as well get the most out of it. Spirit scales better than MP5, but MP5 was given a big boost recently, so I suspect MP5 is better at low gear levels and Spirit better at high gear levels.

I say everything Emmit said, plus I'd say while leveling, you should not ignore Spirit at all. Pre-Outlands, before you care about things like SP and Crit, I'd just mix Owl, Eagle, and Whale, whatever's handy to get. It's also, IMO, a good idea to have Spirit Tap in any leveling build regardless of what tree you're going down.

I know the shadow one is out of date, aye, but I can assure you the healing one is quite up to date as I write and maintain it myself.

I dunno, the parts you quote me in are pre-Lich King and not necessarily right for Holy healing now (does anyone cancel cast anymore?). :P

Ah yes, had not read that one thoroughly. I will check it out for sure :)

Some of it is perhaps a bit unneccissary (though I cancelcast occassionaly), but I'd say nothing is really useless info. The only reason I haven't updated it in 2 months is because basically nothing has changed the past 2 months =P.
