Thinking about switching to Destro for PVP; down and dirty, please post your specs so I too can be a god. I'm Affliction BTW.

This is mine. I focus very little on the minion and more on damage/crit.

Destro pvp without soul-link ,molten skin and nether protection ? Might as well wave "FREE HONOR" flag in bg :p

Hardly. It's done quite well in PvP as long as one manages player control with Shadowfury, Fear, Howl of Terror, and a health 'pick-me-up' with Death Coil. An occassional break with a Succubus' Seduction and you can take your time to cast your big-hitters like Soul Fire. This is built for putting as much into damage/crit as possible with less focus on the traditional "survival" build that locks seem to be forced into and I've enjoyed how well it's actually doing despite what I originally thought.

You'd get more damage out of that spec if it was something like destro pve then. You don't have Demonic Aegis, instead you chose to put in aff tree. 3/3 suppression, 4% base you need to be pvp hit capped ,you could get 2% more for different racials but no need for that tbh , you need 27 hit rating per % ,you can easily get capped with +hit pvp pieces..

imp CoA for destro pvp ... why ? why even usa CoA in this build ? maybe to catch rogue in vanish but even then you don't need imp CoA..

2/2 imp Drain Soul ??

imp Shadow Bolt ?? You'll use fire spells anyway, and if you get silenced or locked on shadow bolt you're fire spells are also locked ,if thats why you took it ...

I'm just saying that with your build you do LESS damage then with normal pvp destro AND you have much less defensive talents..so you lack 30% magic resistance for 8 sec ,25% dmg migration(with soullink glyph), 6% reduction for ALL DMG ,30% more spirit into fel armor -> more spell power ,passive healing for your pet,10% more STAMINA, 15% more stamina to your pets and 3% more to you (which buffs soul link as pet will live a bit longer) and insta pet summon every 3mins for what ... ? 10% more dmg on coa and 3% hit.. Makes sense to you ?

edit: i just realized that in spec I linked are 3 unused points, these go to Pyroclasm.

Perhaps that's where I've been a bit mis-guiding in the build. I've had it set up for both PvE and a little PvP. In both, I still use CoA and Corruption for starter DoT's and the Imp. Drain Soul helps keep up shards and restore mana with each kill.

Imp. Shadow Bolt I think is a very essential talent as it has a 100% chance of raising your crit rating by 5% for ALL SPELLS.

I do like your build as it adds to survivablity and have made some changes to my own tree as I plan to go into more PvP here before long. I wasn't aware of things like the PvP Hit Cap and such as I've only been playing for little more than a month. Thanks for the insight and explaining the details of things for me. It's been educational.

One thing though: No Soul Leech? For PvP I would think that it would be more useful than Fel Domination/Master Summoner since your pet gets an instant cast everytime you need to rez and everything else in the build is focused around survival. Then again, I suppose this depends on whether you're doing BG or Arena.

Soul leech is strictly pve talent,in 0/13/58 destro pve build its used to increase time you can dps so maxing your dps,of course you need to be hit capped in order to skip suppression.

Since you're pretty new to class, just experiment, tweak your builds and have fun. Once you want to do some serious pve or pvp ,read some of jenovaomega's posts about destro pve or go elitistjerks.com and for some arena in-sight arenajunkies.com.

soulleach is far from a purely pve talent, i'll admit it isn't used that often in pvp but i know a few top end (2200+ rated locks) who swear by soul-leach and improved soul-leach in pvp due to the benefits of needing to lifetap less and recieving less heals (if you're running with a healer.. with duel dps it's simply useful to keep yourself alive)

soul-link though is a requirement for pvp (the glyph though is personal preferance).. ranki.. no offence but you don't know anything at all about pvp specs.. your version is based around the mis-construded idea that you can almost always get the jump on your opponent.. well try using your spec vs a rogue/druid/paladin/DK/hunter.. well pretty much anything that does melee damage and you're dead in 2 hits.. 3 if you're lucky.. and you'll be stunned/silenced/they'll be immune to whatever you do for those 2-3 hits
