I'm an Elemental Shaman on a PVP server with some low level BG gear:

I can't believe how well I do now; I routinely take out DK's, Hunters, Warrs with my burst and have to work against the clothies on one on one. In BG's, I tend to be really high in DPS and overall kills even while defending flags. In AV, I top out in DPS, and yes I understand how important it is for us to have a "tank" in PVP. The difference is, I'm actually winning alot of one on one battles now with my totems on one CD and the burst. Anyone else feeling this?

its impossible to reliably catch shaman in a group setting with the new ghost wolf. assuming you have at least one or two competent people who are placing snares, combined with EB totem to fill in gaps, you cant catch a shaman short of outright rooting him (which doesnt last long) or stunning him (which doing reliably requires a rogue).

having said that, elem shammies are still pretty much turrets in pvp, but theyre significantly more mobile now comparatively. there is probably nothing more frustrating than peeling an enh shammy with the new GW tho.

What Quor said more than what you said.

You might want to try some small-scale PvP, especially 2v2 or 3v3 arena before you get too high on life. I'm not saying that Elemental Shaman aren't in a place worlds better than they were in TBC, but "group setting" here is the operative term.

yes, big big emphasis on competent groups members.

altho, i have heard of a "wizard cleave" team in 3's recently. basically its destro lock, elemental shammy and heal pally. between grounding totem, hand of sacrifce and cleanse you have a lot of anti-CC, which can be supplemented by a fel hunter if need be. the warlock brings good all-around control in the form of the aoe stun and fears, as well as a succubus if the lock opts for that instead of the felpuppy, while the elemental shammy provides anti-melee with the earthbind root. both casters are high priority targets; you cant let either one of them free cast or something pops. but the presence of the holy pally, with that new anti-interruption ability of theirs means theres a ten second period where nothing short of outright stuns or very well-executed CC can stop the shammy and lock from nuking. of course, the pally has the counter to that with cleanse + bubble, and the addition of heroism is just gravy.

ive heard of highly skilled RMP beating this comp, but at the same time ive heard that the margin for error is miniscule; if the rogue screws up a CD, or the mage gets caught on a GCD when he needs to ice block, or the priest gets too far away from some LoS, somebody on that RMP team is dying. its even a very strong anti-cleave combo, due to the earthbind root, HoP and aoe CC via shadowfury, howl and thunder. the nerf to prot healing will hurt this a bit, but straight holy still does a nice job. but as it stands now, getting a prothealadin in with this comp would be brutal; 20s hammer with an on-demand high-damage silence, plus insane staying power = sexy beyond belief.

Good information! I'm going to set up a 3's team just like that and see if we can get to 1850; improbably my BG cockiness is in Hateful gear only. The bottom line is it's nice as an Elemental Shaman to not be dead within seconds in any type of scenario. On a side note, in AV I love chasing players as they try to join their Raid down south and frost shock, GW, frost shock, GW until they stop whereby I utilize FS/LB and TB and another shock if they are still alive. It's pretty funny because most of them have owned Shamans up to 80 alot of times and when they die with my Sham near full health they must feel a bit silly.

Quor: You just sent me searching vids. There have to be some pretty gnarly 3s videos out there with this set up. I wanna these two power-houses global someone other than me :)

Tiny bit off topic.

However, I recently came back to WoW and the 3s combo I am dying to try is the Enh shammy, BM hunter, and Holy Pally. I hear that BL/Heroism combined with Beastial Wrath and spirit Wolves is pretty insane. Add into that the Healing and bonuses of the pally and from what I am hearing it is nuts.

Sadly all the good shammies I know are all elemental... If any of you have faced a team like this would love to hear about it!
