I have been playing WoW since the week before TBC launch and I am still leveling my Shaman. I just can't get into it. Why play it then you ask? Well...I am the type that likes to finish what I started. Can anyone please give me some tips, encouragement, addon pointers, etc... concerning the Shaman class? I guess I am more interested in DPS but I am open to anything at this point.

Thanks in advance for any help.

what kind of problems are you having?

with all the exp reduction and quest exp increases, leveling through vanilla and outland should be a breeze.

If you need help you need to say where exactly is the problem. Leveling as enhance should be the best course of action.

I mostly PvE but like the occassional PvP scene as well. I am currently level 58 and just hit outlands and I would really like to max this guy out at some point.

I guess I am just looking for benefits of continuing with leveling.

Are there any recommended addons for enhancement shaman's?

Well, long as you can get into the groove of chain-questing (Moar quests, moar without pausing and wasting time!) Outlands will fly by. Northrend will be a bit tougher just because it takes a bunch of EXP to level up.

Benefits? Your first 80 is an odd feeling...if nothing else just get to 80 then log on a few times and have to remind yourself not to do any quests. Smiley: grin

Addons? Well there are some for totems, so your bars aren't incredibly crowded. And the built in one doesn't work very well if you want something different from a 4-totem drop. Totemus used to work, showed Ankh's, potions, mount, buffs, but it hasn't been updated and has been abandoned. I'd head on over to Curse.com and go to the WoW Addons section, then there is another section just for Shaman Addons.

I found some of my alts got stuck at various levels where i lost interest partly because i got interested in a different class and my answer to that is start another alt which may be crazy i know but i have found with a new alt i can blast through quests and reach the same levels easily and seem to have a far better understanding of what is needed which is probably not for you.

Shaman are complicated if you let them be with all those totems and spells and i found i now only need or use only a few of them in normal questing so it may be a case of sorting out your bars to allow the most used spells and totems easier access for you and i have been thinking of doing something different with that standard bar arrangement so i can group the totems and spells better as the standard bars are just not good enough , not sure if you have tried any of the bar mods available but that may help you as if you can sort them out it will be far more fun.

I am for sure no expert on a shaman but it seems to me to be a class that is crying out for the various bar mods.

I agree, that it's hard when you get stuck. My mage has been stuck at 47 for well over a year LOL. I just can't get into him. Shamans do seem to require more "work", but they are also very rewarding as well. Things got easier at 62. But intially going into HFP with bad gear was very difficult. Even when I waited till 60. Getting water shield at 62 helped (you now already have water shield from a recent patch, so that helps). After 62 it was smooth sailing.

The 50's were extremely hard for me due to bad gear itemization in old world content and lack of good maces (and no axes in that level range for enhancement) in the AH. It takes sheer determination to get through those levels. Although I did this before levelling changes XP nerfs etc. I was determined to be a healer for end game raid content, and this was my highest healer at the time, so I levelled him to 70 for Kara.
