Aggro questionsFollow

First time posting here, but really am wondering if anyone else is getting as frustrated as I am with aggro issues. Firstly, I think I am pretty well geared for running heroics (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Quel%27dorei&n=Xcalibore) and, I have read extensively on prot rotations on forums like elitist jerks and here on allakhazam, but there are still occasions where I am losing aggro. It's weird: I don't have a problem on bosses, it is always on groups of trash. And oh how I love it when I get whispered stuff like "dude, you need to pick up aggro faster" and the like (grrr). It always seems to be the tank who gets blamed first.

One thing I think it might be is the dps, especially casters, aoe'ing before the mobs even get to me. With "recount" and the like, it seems that everyone is more interested in their numbers then working together as a team. And sometimes I think, like in HOK, the dps are wandering too far and pulling other mobs; I say this because in some groups, I can run whole instances with no aggro issues and no bad pulls. But again, it's the tank the group looks to first for the blame.

So a few questions, if anyone can help me.. I've read that it might be that my HoR is missing on occasion, which means I require more expertise? Is there any other way to mitigate this possibility? I do have the glyph for rigteous defence, is there any good add-ons for it? Lastly, do some trash periodically drop aggro in heroics? If they do, is there any way to tell?

I used to have omen, but it only works if everyone in your group is using it, and I've found that lately, at most, only one or two others will be, so it's not of as much use any more.

A final note. I am using SoV and I do make sure that it's up on mobs at all times. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: threw this in at the top so it's sure to get noticed. In your Armory link, the closing parenthesis is acting as part of the weblink. OP, might want to edit that so it works properly, or anyone looking at the link, just realize you need to remove the parenthesis at the end for it to work properly :)

Yes, this is a big problem, particularly for newer 80s/alts as you group with toons that have had time to earn better gear. And, imo, it only got worse with Blizzard's philosophy that tanks need to contribute a meaningful amount of the raid's damage. Before people knew (granted they often still didn't listen ...) that you waited for a couple sunders, or for 2 ticks of Consecration, or whatever it was before you unloaded. Now the general consensus is, "Let the tank look at it, and you're good to go!"

Actually you would need more hit rating, not expertise, to make HoR not miss. I haven't been in game for a little while now, but I have an addon called Tankadin that would announce to people when they were the target of a mob that my taunt failed on to let them know. I know it works with Righteous Defense, and I 'think' it works with HoR as well, but I'm not 100% sure. Anything else I guess you'd have to be more specific of what you're looking for the addon to do :)

As far as trash goes resetting aggro, the only ones I can think of right off hand are those murlocs (gorlocs) in Gundrak that hop around all the time. There may be others, but I'm not remembering them off the top of my head.

Your gear and spec look just fine to me for running Heroics. The only things I can really think of are you're just getting overzealous DPS that outgear you or you're not running your rotation quite right. You said you looked rotations up, and I have no reason to not believe you, so I'm more inclined to believe that the people you've been running with aren't 'letting' you do your job.
