After reading this

I learned why my living bomb was not procing my Pyro. Its SUCH a shame, it was SO good. Blizzard has decided that it is "to powerful". It's really not considering how much this REALLY helps our dps in single target, (not much).

It was overpowered, really.

Eh, not on single target, and we should be THE BEST class for AOE like back in the. The only time this was really usefull is when fighting a boss and he has 2 adds or something, other than that Blizzard with 3 or mroe AOE just works well.

Meh our aoe is good enough, and our single target us already great. Not too many other casters do around 5.5k single target dps or more on average, and I sure as hell do not want to be nerfed from single target damage because I do better AoE damage than other classes. I could care less about 1/10th of the fights where heavy AoEing matters whatsoever, where 95% of the fights (if not more...) have a heavy single-target requirement.

So mage DPS can be that good, then? I was reading the thread on the o-boards about the Living Bomb nerf and a lot of posters were saying that mages were falling way behind rogues and warlocks, but I couldn't be sure if it was the usual QQ or something with any legitimacy to it.

Mages are very gear dependent. Rogues and Ferals can faceroll 5k DPS. Mages need stacked gear and lucky procs.
Locks I don't know much, they either do 5k dps or 1k lol.

Well the amount of 'lucky' procs goes away with the better gear that you have, as your crit chance increases as does your chance of getting hot streak to proc. And as you get 4pcT8 getting multiple hot streak procs in a row is awesome for dps (but bad for threat...).

Locks are very spec dependent and depend on what they bring to the raid.

Mages are fine for DPS. I play in the worst raiding spec: Deep frost. In my sub par gear I still manage around 4k-4600 DPS on bosses. I assume if I was geared for crit instead of haste, and used a Fire spec, I'd be pushing 5.5-6k, even in my level of gear.

actually jay, fireball spec doesn't stack crit. when you are geared enough in hit spellpower for it, the amount of crit you have from standard gear and from the raid is generally enough. Any orange gems used are spellpower/haste. And generally gear with haste is favored over that with crit.

Interesting. If you don't mind me asking, do you think my current gear would support Fire for when my frost doesn't cut it for Hardmodes?

definitely. You can re-gem a few things (red gem into your pants, for instance). I'm loving the min-maxing action (enchanting + jcing) for your professions.

Your trinkets need some help, for sure.

But yeah, you can totally get probably 50-100dps more pretty easily by de-cheapafying some ofy our enchants/regemming I would guess.
