I know its not a big thing and to be honest I have when raid leading never really paid much attention to overhealing meters. Not being a child of raiding back pre BC it is never much of an issue I generally figure that if people arn't running out of mana during a fight its not a big issue for the level of raiding we do (10 man normals and the odd 25).

But for fun I was getting one of the guildies to run recount now that hots tick regardless of people being at full health to allow procs of such things as the epic hammer.

During this Sundays undying attempt I basically went nuts on the Heigan dance hotting up everyone and their dog to make sure we didnt lose someone to an unlucky movement. After the end of the fight I hadnt dropped below 50% mana and my overheal was .....80%!. Never ever going to tease pallys about it again!

So anyone else done any stupid overhealing now?

*Foot note we got to KT and lost it at 15% to an unlucky void zone which sucked but all in all its was a fun run*

I've never healed anything but low level instances pre-TBC, but I still cringed last night when I saw my overheals during an Azjol-Nerub run.

Then I remembered that all spells cost the same amount of mana now. Which had me wondering, because Warriors and Rogues don't get to keep their low rank abilities once they gain a new one. For instance, Heroic Strike rank 1 gets overwritten by rank 2 when it is learned (it even applies it to the actionbar automatically), but why do I have all ranks of, say, Healing Touch in my spell book? Does anyone actually use low rank spells anymore?

I think it might just be because the framework was already in place to retain all ranks of spells and they didn't feel like changing it. There's also the fact that the cast time of spells increases with rank, so for things like a Mage's Frostbolt, you might want the quickest casting spell for whatever situation you're in. 99% of spells would be unaffected if it only allowed you to cast max rank, though.

Maz, your spell book has a box to check to only show max spell ranks.

OH REALLY, mr. Smarty Pants?! Ooh, you're so clever, aren't you?! Let's belittle Maz for his ignorance, huh??

What?
WHAT?! Smiley: mad

Oops, forgot I'm not at work anymore. Sometimes the habit carries over to private life. You know.

Thanks.

:)

One of my friends only discovered a week ago you could puts notes on people in your friends list.

My guild has the 'Maka Checklist for Raiding'. They include such classics as:

1) Did you turn on master looter?
2) Did you set the raid to regular 10 man?
3) Are you in tank gear?
4) Are you using your tank spec?

These things have all happened several times.

After a patch they have to also make sure I assigned talents as I have had issues with that as well.

Getting lost in the Hodir wing was an issue for a while but I haven't gotten lost there in a few weeks. Plus the adds no longer aggro the raid so the issue has become less serious anyway.

You'd think, after five years, I'd have it all pretty much figured out, right?

Still, I did not know you could add notes to your friends. Smiley: blush

Last night we had 3 healers with the average over-healing at about 50% and we're barely beating enrage timers with the DPS we had. The whole time I was thinking another damage-dealer would be awesome!

Haha, it sounds like it. Did you guys get the achievement? Personally, this is the one fight I usually did in humanoid form so that I could throw around some wrath/moonfire, as the damage is pretty low and there is ample time to let the mana regen. Every little bit helps, even with an annoyingly low hit-rate!

I was doing an H-VH for some emblems the evening after the change, with the overheal tab of Recount open. Was running with guildies who are all mostly Ulduar-10 geared.

Definitely sat at around 75% overhealing for most of the run, and never went under 75% mana...

Same here. Finished each wave with 100% mana and only got down to 50% on any of the bosses because I was keeping rejuv and regrowth on the whole party so I didn't have to bother reacting to them taking damage :)

We got the safety dance finally. I have only been going to naxx since it opened in WOTLK and we always seemed to lose someone dont ask me why but its just one of those achievments that I never had any luck at.
For the undying the tank got voided with KT on 15% which was hellishly unlucky. They are going again on sunday but I got a lot fo heat last week for raiding on a sunday so I think I may miss out this week :(.

Its funny with Mana regen at the moment I am mostly Ulduar 10 geared with a couple of 25 man bits and I can run lifebloom, nourish and Rejuve for a loong time without going OOM. Last night I basically solohealed the crazy cat lady after our pally got one shotted at the start and still made it through that even though I was going nuts on everything to keep the raid up.
Though now with improved Bacon pallys just seem to be awsome at tank healing as they can run on main and offtank solo in 10 man if they are both within range so I am mainly spike damage buffering and raid healing again if one of the pallys is with me.
