warlocks by the barrel...Follow

I've always played a warlock since 3 years back when I first started playing. I've noticed many changes and things among warlocks but now i've been starting to see quiet an odd phenomenon.

As everyone knows warlocks are obviously the best class in the world (at least in this forum :p) and have some really awesome dps, 10k on hordir anyone? Now typically when a warlock would say this sorta thing you'd get arguments from other classes and get some valid points on why there classes might be as good as yours but that's seemed to disappear a little bit with wrath. I mean if you even look at the charts (well at least before 3.2) the only dps that was better then warlock dps was kitty dps and that would probably require some great amount of skill, not really sure. While on the other hand, the warlock dps requires little skill at all ( comeon, u have to admit it)

Well because of this exception many people have started to hop on the "warlock bandwagon"

I mean its not so bad when your playing and you deal with the occasional warlock scrub who can't play for their life and thinks they are great but now this multiplies to an unbearable amount. Its like everyone, their brother, and their cousin all decided to make a warlock alt., level them, and then expect to crank out high amounts of dps without having to really do anything. Its these warlock alts that are the ones i have to deal with on a constant daily basis asking as to how things work that even a stupid monkey could figure out, I'd list an example but I'd think even you guys would be horrified.

Then I have to deal with these constant alts expecting me to take them into my raids and get carried when their gear is **** and when i reject them and tell them they can't go, they get all pissy, say their 2k dps, yes 2k dps, is awesome and im simply not taking them so i can take all the gear.

It gets quiet annoying and especially in the case when im in a raid with one, their dps is crap, they win the item i needed, their dps is still bad, and then I see they've deleted their character because they can't measure up to the amount of pew pew they had expected. Now with them deleting them it gets sorta better but the problem is the amount of them just keeps growing cause i keep seeing 4-6 new ones a day and it doesn't end

I mean warlocks have always been a less played class in general and it wasn't uncommon that I'd be the only one in raids like 8 months back but now i start to see the same over crowding as DK's and paladins are accustomed to in raids and now rather then being the only lock in the raid, I'm one of 4 or 6. Now maybe this may not be to much of a problem and the only reason im seeing it like this is because of my loot-whorish ways, not so much really but it creeps in >.>, but it is still something worth noticing.

Now there may be a few exceptions to these types and some of the warlocks that come out of this may be good but the stupidity still applies to the most of them sadly. I'm not really sure if this happened before so pardon me if im repeating something thats been talked about before or is a boring topic but i just wanted to see what others thought or if anyone else on other servers was also having to deal with this,

thoughts. comments. quarries?

I don't think people are making them for "easy dps". Due to being able to summon toons right into an instance/raid, warlocks are pretty much wanted for dps, more than other classes. Maybe not so much in instances, but long raids, they become very useful. They can summon toons to replace others or, in some cases, summon a toon who doesn't have a flying mount, which is required to get to some raids.

As for their gear, some are misinformed or assume what gear they should get, when they're wrong. Heck, even my guild leader, which has a lvl 80 warlock, was gearing him wrong. He was stacking a ton of spell power with little to no hit rating. Some users need to be corrected on the gear they think they need, but be nice about it... insulting them on their gear may not result in them listening to you at all.

I do decent dps myself, but I've always been told that warlocks and hunters were the top 2 dps classes. Some seem to say they're equal, but I've not really payed much attention to gear and dps of the two for the last few patches.

personally I love insulting people about their gear, though generally I'll stick to being patronisingly sarcastic about it so as to get my opinion across, though i'll wait till after they're passed up the gear i need (what's the point in giving a piece of gear to someone who can't maximise their use of it due to being noobs...)

on the topic of people re-rolling lock.. well most are going DK or Rogue... but due to our insane raid dps (and slowely improving pvp position) there may be a few more people re-rolling... though regardless it's nothing compared to back at 70... SOOO many people re-rolled lock 'cos of our lovely "0/21/40 SB spam" spec.. amusingly even as that spec you could differentiate between the good and bad locks simply by how well they 'spammed 1 button' most re-rollers didn't know about /stopcasting macros or (after the patch) the proper way to use the spell queuer.. on a fight like brutalus back then you could get a good 200-300dps difference by simply knowing this and lifetaping at the right moments.. then take into account the correct gearing and you're up to a good 500+dps difference

anyways currently the rotations (especially properly applying the spell priority list to the destro spec) allow for a big enough dps gap based almost soloely on skill

I'm seeing not to many people were thrilled as to what i said i guess? O.o. dunno about the ratedowns. But seriously is anyone else see this thing as sorta being annoying. I never did like bandwagon's, lol.

The lock forums are always to quiet, thought I'd try to motivate a bit of life out of you all :p

Haven't noticed this at all. It's a rarity to run with a warlock on my server. Almost as tough as finding a shaman.

Which makes my life much better when running vault because I almost never have anyone to roll against.

the lock forum has been quiet 'cos there hasn't been anything interesting about warlocks to talk about that we haven't already discussed.. fact is there haven't been any really interesting changes to locks for a few patches... just wait till the soulshard change, then we'll get lively again

yeah should be interesting what they do with that but im still anxiously waiting for the green flames ghostcrawler was talking about.

Anyone think the new change in the patch with reducing the percentage of damage you get off of fire and brimstone being down to 10% rather the 15% as a nerf? I don't know, but I've seen my dps go down a good 1k due to this and my crits be like 2-3k less then normal

the FnB change is well.. a flat 5% nerf to the destro damage, BUT the change to empowered imp negates that change in PVE (the the lifetap glyph change could mean that 0/13/58 spec'd locks might want to replace their immolate glyph with lifetap, as lifetapping once every 40 seconds sound just about right for me.. and i wouldn't be surprised if you saw at worst a very small drop in immolate and conflag damage from the glyph change
