MM, survival, or BM? It's primarily dpsing (no raid) while I go to level 80 from start. Right now my hunter is 13, almost 14. I plan to tame Humar when I can just for looks but generally I'd be using cat for pets.
I've looked at the FAQs but there are so many talents explanation and no "suggested" talent build. I tried looking at WoW Armory for similar hunters close to my level but it seems most low level hunter are PVP oriented twinks, and not PVE for leveling.
Any suggestions?

Yes, BM! since they nerfed pigs (no stun) I use cats, but bears might be a better tank, which is all you need.

For hunters there is no real difference in play style from a leveling spec to a DPS spec. The only difference is spell rotation. The rest is the same.
As for pets get what you like as most are fairly similar in a 1 vs 1 battle. If you were to agro more that 1 mob then a bear is good to start with then a gorilla. But if you want to kill things quickly some prefer a cat for that.

Well, Yuppley is only one of the resident Hunter PvP experts. But you're free to ignore him if you want. And no, of course there's no reason to level in your PvP spec, because leveling is completely dissimilar from actual PvP.

Ignore pet changes much? Gorillas haven't been the best leveling pet for a while--all Tenacity pets have Thunderstomp now, Gorillas get...Pummel, woo.

NO, leveling and PvP are two totally different animals. If your end goal is to have a PvP toon, then pick the bracket you think is best and then twink. You can now do BGs without getting XP (by paying a 10g fee), which means you'll be fighting other twinks.
BM is still the most efficient leveling tree for hunters although you can level as MM or SV as well. With the dual spec feature available at lvl 40 (1000g cost) you can have both a PvE and a PvP spec. Problem solved.
