I love epic flight form!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My druid just hit 77 and I can now use my epic flight form again!!!!!! I got it just before lich king cam out and haven't really gotten to enjoy it at all, until last night. I spent at least 2 hours just flying around all the zones, exploring and herbing. Not only did I get 1/2 a level for discovering new places, I got a crapton of herbs to get my alchemy to 448, plus stuff for the AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And today, I'll get my new DRUID LOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE BEING A DRUID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...just saying (-:

It sure is nice, instant cast makes it that much better, really good for farming.

I refuse to buy a flying mount or use the one I have just because the cast time is too long.

Honestly I could have a mount that only I have and if it wasn't instant I wouldn't use it.

Not being able to jump out of water and fly is lame.

Nith has no other mounts either. Just her two druid flight forms. Another plus for us is we don't have to shift out of form to pick up herbs. Saves time and makes escaping those pesky mobs much easier.

I'll ride on my drakes from time to time, but for the most part I'm in flight form.

Now I need to get on during a weekend 10 man HM run and finish off the other 8 achievements I have left for my rusted proto.

310% flight form anyone?

Yay, Xenexia, I'm so happy for you. Bleh. Smiley: frown

Only 5,000 to go for me. Or maybe I should do the quest thing. Arex, you're the resident Thunderchicken around here, I heard that you need to be Boomkin to solo the Raven Lord guy. I bet you've soloed it a lot of times, right? Is it true?

Also, I apologize to Xenexia for hijacking this thread, but I'm mad at her.. him.. you.. for having epic flight form when I'm still stuck without even Cold Weather Flying. I'm only level 75, though. Smiley: blush

I solo him all the time in my tank gear in kitty dps spec. It's laughable really.

Stealth to him, kill trash (bear form of course, they still hit hard enough to kill you in kitty), kill trash to next boss, kill boss so back door opens incase you die for some reason you can just walk back in the back door instead of all the way around, summon boss, kill, profit.

I still haven't gotten the mount, but it's easy :P

I go cat gear in bear spec for my soloing. Kinda interesting how both work.

I could probably do it in cat gear in bear form, but without the added mitigation of the bear spec, the tank gear helps me not have to worry at all about dying.

Are you talking about soloing for the flight form quest?

Cause if you are talking about the quest I know the part where you have to use balance spells on him IE: MF/IS/SF/Wrath. I was resto at the time I did it and I was wailing on him for like 25k starfire crits back at 70.

If you're talking about Anzu in heroic sethek, I never do it as balance. I do it with an enhancement shaman and I run resto.

If you want to solo him go bear and use all your bear like tricks.

Oh, I always thought it was the same boss, or at least the same instance, only you needed Druid with the quest to summon the guy.

So soloing the guy for the mount is easy, but low drop rate is low. Soloing Anzu (sounds like an anime character) is requires Boomkin or at least spell-tossing, but is also relatively easy?

You need to be level 80 before considering all of this, right? I've still got some way to go (I might be level 76 tonight, if the patch would like to download itself just a little faster).

To start the epic flight quest, you need to purchase 300 Riding training. Then, you can either train the form from a druid trainer or start the quest in Zangamarsh. Part of the quest involves using each druid form. Flight form, cat, bear, caster (moonkin), and your HoTs help for the final part, killing Anzu (an optional boss in Heroic Sethekk). Anzu drops reigns of the raven lord at some rediculously low percentage, and can be solo'd by feral druids with decent gear at 80.

Is there any point to doing the quest if you get the swift form from a trainer?

I almost have enough for artisan flight and would like to do the swift form quest chain, but I am only lvl 74 atm and am doubt I would be able to do the end bit solo, though I am sure I would at least try. I got myself the tome of cold weather flight last night and can fly in Northrend now. Best 1000g spent.

aside from gemming, cat gear and bear gear tends to differ very little ive noticed, trinkets and jewelry aside. i suppose thats one good thing that came outta the gear homogenization.

It's a pretty nice quest line and the last fight has mechanics that I hadn't seen before, so yes, it is worth it.

However I waited until I was level 80 and bored before I started it, was just easier than trying beforehand.

@ Maz, it's HER all the way IRL and Nith is a girl too. Also, I got my epic flight form right before Lich King came out, so if I wanted to fly I had to go back to Outland to do it. Also my main at the time was a miner/jc so she made all the money for both my toons to get epic flying, plus my dad had extra gold as well.

So get one of your 80s to buy the book for CWF and send it to your druid. Then you can fly at 75. WOOT.

Oh, and I'm loving my new looks. White fur is cool in the snow...I blend right in.

Just to emphasise what Astarin said, it's not either/or. You have to buy the epic flight training before you can do the quest for the epic flight form. Since the form is trainable now, the quest is really just flavour, but from what I hear, it's a pretty darn tasty flavour :)

Also, I believe they upped the speed of non-epic flight in this patch from 60% to 150%? It's still not epic, but it's much faster, so if you haven't flown in a while you might be pleasantly surprised once you pick up Cold Weather Flying!

Oddly, the European WoW site still claims it's 60%, while the American site has 150%. I guess us Europeans are just old-fashioned...

Finishing the quest lets you summon Anzu, which you can do every day until you get the reins of the ravenlord to drop. If you collect semi-rare mounts, it's worth it. Also, the whole quest line is pretty awesome. The trinket got nerfed, though. Used to be our riding crop, now it just reduces the mana cost of flight form.
