As a boomkin drood, are the following BOA items the best possible set up? If not, are there others I should look for?

Preened Ironfeather Shoulders
Dignified Headmaster's Charge
Discerning Eye of the Beast (x2)

I also want to be doing a lot of healing along the way (I am a tree at heart, and am only going boomkin so that I can level faster/heal when able) - so I am not sure if possible that BOA mace would be better. Thanks in advance for the help guys!

Stick with the staff.

All casters can use staves therefor if you ever level another caster you're set.

And the leather shoulders and trinkets look good too?

Yeah, any spell power shoulders paired with the two spell power trinkets is what you want.

the mace is nice if you plan on leveling a priest or elem shammy. the staff can work for both, but as an elemental youll want that shield, and mace + OH works well for druid and priest while leveling too.

but really, the staff is just fine if you dont mind not using a shield on a shammy. or just do what i did, farm a metric crapton of badges accidentally via helping guildies run crap, and just get a full set of gear for almost every possible character.

As for the shoulders, it appears that there are two with IDENTICAL stats, save one being leather and the other cloth. As a druid, would it be beneficial to use the cloth one, so another cloth alt can use it? Or would the leather shoulders make a noticeable difference, even with identical stats.

Cloth is fine. While doing quests and such you'd only ever notice the difference when doing majorly massive AOE grinding. But even that would be assuming that you'd be wearing all cloth. You're still getting the Moonkin armor bonus, so it's not like wearing cloth would make you as squishy as a "real" clothie, though.

In instances you're not supposed to get hit anyway, and if it should ever happen, you have Barkskin, a possible Cyclone on whatever is beating on you, or whatever.

So... get cloth if there is only the remote possibility of you wanting to level another caster.
