I know this has been covered somewhere but I didn't see it.

On a typical affliction rotation you put up corruption on your first rotation thereby making me believe that your buffs and the bosses debuffs have no bearing on when it should be applied. So casting corruption while the +700 spell power trinket proc is up does not give your corruption extra damage the whole fight, likewise you don't have to wait for CoE to be on a mob before you cast corruption as it will benefit from it anyway. I believe this to be correct, however I haven't played affliction since 3.1 and looking around there seems to be a lot of contradictory info.

One thing I did see that I wanted to check is that, while a + spell power bonus won't increase your damage, applying corruption while standing in a boss buff that increases your damage, such as a rune of power on Hodir, will increase corruption for the rest of it's duration. Just wondering if anyone has the truth about all this crap cause every website seems to say something slightly different.

k, when it comes to this talent...
1. as debuffs are applied to the boss, the damage of corruption will increase (so you could swap CoE on and off after every tick and you'd notice every other tick being 13% more powerful)
2. buffs on yourself only apply when you APPLY the dot.. so if you get a SP trinket proc, you should then lifetap and take a SP potion (if the glyph proc isn't up) and reapply corruption so as to increase the damage it does (and everytime corruption is 'renewed' by the talent it'll think it has this increased SP instead of what you currently have)
3. boss debuffs like on thadius.. or boss buffs (like on loot council or hodir) if you apply corruption before the (de)buff it'll tick for the usual amount.. if you reapply corruption after the (de)buff it'll tick for ALOT more and stay at that highier value until you let corruption drop.

As a corollary to this:

Is it a good idea to refresh all your DoTs when you get in a ruin of power? or make sure that you refresh them just before the ruin disappears?

I was running around IF bored today and came across the training dummies and decided to see what difference in damage corruption could make if cast with trinket proc/life tap compared to with-out (I never worried about it before, once corruption was up it was up) It seemed during my testing that when I cast it had no bearing at all on the damage it did. I put up 2 stacks of shadow embrace and then just corruption and haunt to renew it. When I put it up with and with-out the trinket proc the average tick was 1,500-1,700. When my trinket would proc corruption would tick for more, 1,900-2,200 depending on what proc'd.

It seemed that corruption ticks benefit from whatever self-buffs you have at the time of the tick, not upon application.

hmm, effort to re-check, though sounds a bit odd for blizzard to do that... well if that's true then you can scrub off needing to re-new corruption then with procs, but trust me, still renew it on thadius/hodir damage buffs
