New Shaman needs guidanceFollow

Hello,

I recently picked the game back up and decided to reroll on a new sever, with a different faction, and a class i have never played before to try and make things a bit more interesting. I picked Shaman as i have always wanted to try the class and i hate to say it, but so far I'm a little disappointed. I have made it to level 18 and have probably died 18 times. I thought that this was due to me shaking a little rust off from being out of the game for so long, but then i realized that really wasn't the case. My DPS seems very low (even for level 18) and after every fight or two i have to sit to eat and drink. I am specing into the Enhancement Tree and I am currently using a level 13 two handed mace with flametounge until i get dual wield. My normal rotation is one or two lighting bolts followed by earth shock then just melee them down. Am i doing something wrong or will things change once i can use dual wield? Also I feel very soft will this change once i hit level 40 and can wear mail? Any suggestions you have for me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shamans are a little bit slow to start, but so are most classes. When I started leveling I went enh as well. To save mana I pretty much would just melee everything with the occasional shock and would only use totems if I could pull 3-4 mobs to me.

Once you get water shield (lvl 20 I believe) then you'll be able to drink less and less after pulls. The class really won't shine until you get DW and some decent weapons. After that you can go on killing sprees that last for days without having to stop.

Look on the bright side, you could be leveling a druid from 1-20, nothing is worse then that.

I am leveling an elemental Shaman (now 66) and i don't stop for a drink at all. Non-stop killing and don't use my totems unless in a group. Fastest leveling toon so far.

Ever do those levels as a priest? Druids at least get bear form at 10 and can can fight. Priests need a good wand to survive.

To the OP: I would say stick to enhance. Decent weapons aren't hard to come by and it's helpful not reling entirely on Mana to fight.

That's why Druid 1-20 sucks. You have Bear form, not Cat form.

Cestin I totally agree with you... bear form is a huge let down. You shift and then slowly enter into battles of attrition for 10 levels.
