Why does everyone else have more PVE DPS?Follow

#1 Jul 28 2009 at 5:23 AM Rating: Decent
Hi rogues.

I've noticed that in almost every instance I've been doing lately, I'm always coming up the last one in dmg meters. I'm at least 7-15% less than everyone else.

Link to my armory:
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kazzak&n=Cheeko

I'm using IP on my MH and DP on my OH.
I usually use this cycle in instances: Garrote>SND - then SS>Rupture - then SSx5>Evis.
I use my Adrenaline Rush+BladeFlurry+1 of my trinkets and Killing Spree when many mobs attack.

So, I need to know, what am I exactly doing wrong? Is it my gear? If so, what stats should I concentrate more on? 'Cause I have a really hard time when choosing which gear to wear. I don't know whether I'm better off with more ArP, hit rating, Crit. Rating, etc.

And if it's my build, then how should I change it?

Thanks a lot in advance :]

PS: I know that I don't have any weapon specialization, but that could not be the main cause for such noob DPS.

First off, do you have WoTLK? I'm noticing a lot of BC items. Also, I immediately noticed that you have really low hit. You're dps will suffer if you're constantly missing.

You really should get CQC, whether you think it would gimp your dps or not. That extra crit does help.

Your rotation seems completely weird to me. Try something like this

PvE Combat, fast and flawed advice
Mainhand a sword or fist weapon of generally slow speed.
Offhand a sword, dagger or fist weapon of generally fast speed.
Mainhand Wound Poison, Offhand Deadly Poison

Rotation:
* Start up Slice and Dice however you please, really.
* Use cooldowns whenever possible. Killing spree + blade flurry, blade flurry +
adrenaline rush can be used. Adrenaline rush + killing spree is not recommended
due to energy capping.

1. Sinister Strike to 3+ Combo Points.
2. Slice and Dice.
3. Sinister Strike to 5 Combo Points.
4. Rupture.
5. Sinister Strike to 5 Combo Points.
6. Does Slice and Dice have >12 seconds left? If yes, Eviscerate. If no, Go to Step 2.
7. Go to Step 1.

He's still L70 yet.

OP: I think you are seriously underestimating the value of weapon specialization.

He has WOTLK. Lose the MoD and take your weapon specialization. Remorseless sucks too. Your hit rating sucks bad.

And to say it again, always take a weapon specialization, always.

I know he's only level 70, but that still doesn't change the fact that he does need hit (and we all know we can get hit from many things when we used to do it back when the cap was 70), and the rotation can help as well. Same with picking the weapon specialization.

Plus, if he did have WoTLK, he could easily replace a lot of the gear for much better ones from quests in Borean or HF.

No, I was only saying he's not stuck in BC. I'm pretty sure he even has a couple of WotLK quest rewards; for instance the gloves.

Ah haha. Sorry. 'Blonde' moment there. I just glanced over some of the gear pieces and noticed them as older pieces, that's all.

Don't mind me. Nothing to see here... Carry on.

What is the context of the pve dps? Instances? It looks like you are in fresh lvl 70 greens, and in that case, your dps isn't going to be stellar. With whom are you comparing your dps to? Same geared same level players?

I just re-specced, here:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#fGx00xZMxAz0cxqru0xoZx

A lot, if not all, of my current gear is quest rewars from Borean Tundra. I'll try to increase my Hit Rating. Can anyone list those in order of importance: Critical Strike Rating - ArP Rating - Expertise - Hit Rating?

Oh, and I was comparing myself to many with just Borean Tundra Greens, maybe a few blues too. Balance druids, fury warriors, any DKs, Warlocks... Today, a semi-healer was close to beating me too, I was really ashamed. =_=

Wierd thing is, I've only started experiencing this about 5-7 lvls ago, it was all good before that, I mean, I wasn't the best, but much better than my status now.

Well unless you've got some swords to use, speccing into the sword specialization won't do you any good with your current weapons. You need to spec into Close Quarters Combat, if you're going to be using a fist and dagger.

Quite frankly, I find Riposte quite useless. I don't know about everyone else, but it was always a pain trying to time it right to add that to my rotation.

I'd say to do something like this and then slowly move to this as you move to 80.

If you change your weapons up (such as getting two swords), then you'd exchange Close Quarters Combat to Sword Specialization (same with Maces to Mace Specialization). Each specialization is for a specific type of weapon for a reason. Like I said, if you're continuing to use your fist and dagger weapons, the sword specialization won't do you any good.

Always spec for your mh wpn. Also for lvling purposes i'd go with something like this at 70 and filling out to this at 79. Respec at 80 to standard raiding build(15/51/5, 18/51/2 or 51/13/7).

For lvling always use double wound and really for most instances double wound is going to be more dam and less expensive than swapping poisons just for bosses. As far as cycles in instances while lvling, leave evis out completely on bosses(its great for trash as most of it should die before your rupture would end), just run a 5s/5r and evis the last 5% or so. Also keep in mind as combat you gain nothing from starting in stealth when instancing(unless you need to sap or stun something right away), so don't waste energy on garotte, just start SSing right away and get into your cycle.

I think it was mentioned, but never use AR+KS at the same time, you'll energy cap which is a dps loss.

As to stat preference while lvling, doesn't really matter that much, but in general agi is best imo as it increases your dodge as well as ap and crit. Do try and keep around 3-4% hit(not including talents) or you'll start missing specials on mobs 3 lvls above you. Anything more than 3+ lvls you'll see a ton of glancing and misses(and they can land crushing blows) so try not to instance more than 2lvls above your own lvl.

Cheap way to get some extra hit is to toss titanium wpn chains on your wpns when you get blue ones that you think you'll keep for a few lvls.
