Shield Slam: The benefit from additional block value this ability gains is now subject to diminishing returns. Diminishing returns occur once block value exceeds 30 times the player's level and caps the maximum damage benefit from shield block value at 34.5 times the player's level.

So, a Level 80 warrior can have... At maximum;
34.5 * 80 = 2760
Bonus to damage to shield block.

And it gets lowered to
30 * 80 = 2400
After DR.

Yep. It's absolutely crap. Cool balancing, guys. Way to nerf PvE for gimmick PvP imbalances caused by your shoddy bandaid "fix" in an attempt to not make block not terrible.

Thanks, Blizz.

yeah, its a buncha bs. lowering the damage of the lowest damage tank even further just because they refuse to "complicate" the game by having abilities work differently in pvp compared to pve.

Note that I never said it was a successful attempt. Block hasn't ever been a good mitigation stat outside of over gearing instances.

block is awesome when you wanna run lowbies thru ubrs to get the jenkins title. or if you feel like waking up every single onyxia whelp at the same time and then training them to the center. hit shield block and youre invincible!

for ten seconds.

How can Blizz even fix block?

I mean pallies have close to 100% block. Warriors have crit block and SS to worry about.

What can Blizz do to fix block that wont make it OP in PvP for warriors or have a OP affect on pally block for PvE?

It would have to be talent based I would imagine but that is ghetto to use talents to fix a core mechanic.

Block needs some serious work.

yeah, block needs a lot of help.

best idea would just be to separate pvp and pve, but blizz doesnt want to do that because they dont want "confusing tooltips". you know, since they dont already have those.

Blizz should just realize that no one of any sense reads their tool tips anymore and just finally separate pvp and pve all together.

I agree 100% with you calindc.

They started that with paladins, and they should just landslide it into place.

This would create better balance between pvp and pve in the long run and would have immediate and beneficial effects.

This also means they have to code a whole 2nd set of values that your character has available, and have them available on demand in environments that have both pve and pvp targets (alterac valley comes to mind).

It's sound in principal.
