Is blacksmithing worth it? I am currently mining/enchanting but thinking about a change.

Enchanting is great for Ring chants and DEing junk from Heroics for crazy gold.

Mining is ~500hp since the +50stam buff

I personally went Blacksmithing and Jewelcrafting. This way I could socket my wrist/hands and put 41stam in them and my belt. Plus the trinket is insane.

As for Blacksmithing alone, I love it.

What spec are you? Are you min/maxing for raids? Or are you trying to make gold? More info helps.

But, maybe this could answer your questions: WoWhead. I saw this linked in another thread asking about best professions for Paladins. Found it by using the search feature on this forum. It is nice ;)

Keep in mind it may be slightly outdated, I didn't read the whole thing, but it should give you a good idea.

I personally went Mining/Engineering, and haven't doubted either one of them until recently.

My Engineering is slacking, due to my Mining being incredibly under-par. @ Outland at the moment, and am running with 210 Mining. -.-

But no. Engineering has some nice benefits, and the Rocket Boots are nice for closing the gaps, but you'd be better off with Enchanting, Blacksmithing, or Jewelcrafting.

Well, I am a tank build, I dont even know what raiding is, and instances seem to be boring, mainly because people run me through when I ask them to actually do the instance with me. Any suggestions?

I found myself in a similar boat and came very near to dropping Mining entirely. The only thing that made me stick with it was the sheer insane amount of money to be made in gathering thorium, even if you're only doing it to get up to 300.

Running instances with a good bunch of mates can be an insane amount of fun, but if being talked through it is what is pissing you off, try reading up on some of the later ones in advance @ WoW Wiki.

What I normally use @ http://www.wowwiki.com/Instances_by_level

If you're going for tanking (and really anything) JC is the best profession once you hit 80 (although it is meh while leveling up).

After that there's a toss up. Mining provides a higher effect than BS for tanks, but BS gives versatility across multiple specs and gear sets.

Those are the "best" professions, and anyone saying otherwise is defending a personal choice with some kind of nuanced "well you could use it here" situational excuse. Engineering's rocket boots are a great example, although they're going to fall flat soon because the place where they're most useful (arena) they will soon be useless.
