I've been playing a Paladin since I stopped raiding and started spending my WoW time goofing off/doing PVP. This change has been good for me. I've always been a fan of hybrid classes and I loves my pally. On a more relevant note, a couple things I've found along the way (your mileage may vary):
1. Switching up my class has done wonders for my PVP skills. My eyesight is not great and my reflexes are worse, so I tend to have problems with mobility and just, basically, keeping up. Playing a class that is incredibly survivable gives you more margin for error and more time to practice, building up your speed and forming habits that eventually become automatic reactions. It's like memorizing Strunk and White before you sit down to write a novel. Playing something that has to get in there and fight close up just builds better precision. I also learned to play a lot more offensively. These are all skills that would help me, should I decide to come back to a squishier class.
2. Regardless of what class you do it with and how much you love or hate it, I've really come to believe that anyone who needs to improve their PVE healing should do some PVP. Nothing removes tunnel vision and teaches situational awareness like PVP. Nothing.
The thing is though? I miss my priest. I don't want to retire my pally, she's a good partner for my husband's DK, but I'm thinking I might level a new priest on the side. So, I might be around a bit more again. Once I get a computer that works. Also, what should I name her, do you think?
