Comparing two similar specsFollow

#1 Jul 15 2009 at 12:10 PM Rating: Decent
I have been trying to get settled into a spec for DPS and have not found one I am comfortable with as of yet. I think I may have found two I think are viable but I need some opinions before I decide.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVh0Icfkf0stMZfM0hxc -- Current. I do like it but something just seems a tad off.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVh0Icfkf0stG0xxhb -- The other option I was looking at.

As far as gear goes I am still in mostly 80 quest blues but will be replacing it all soon *hopefully*

The first spec looks pretty solid. I personally hate that 1 floater point in blood that you need to get DRW. I put it in rune tap, but I can't argue with where anyone puts it elsewhere (like you and IBP).

Forget about the 2nd spec, frost sub-tree isn't going to help you as blood dps. Annihilate is worthless because you will be using DS and never oblit. Unholy tree is a much better sub-tree for blood.

My guess is that you will greatly outperform the 2nd spec with the 1st spec.

Thanks! I was sort of stuck on the second spec for some reason.

Do you happen to know any current frost Tank builds in good use in Ulduar? I know it's a tad "noobish" of me to ask but I really can't tank worth crap in unholy which is what EJ seems to support most at the moment.

And thanks again for the DPS advice!

Don't listen to EJ, they're wrong more often than they're right, at least on DKs.

To answer your question on a good frost tank spec, I would probably go with something like this, however, I always have threat problems when I go frost and so I prefer to go blood for tanking. Theo might be a better expert on frost than I am, he's played frost longer than I have.

I agree with Dilbert here. That tank thread over at EJ is a mess. The main post doesn't even have a blood spec posted. In the last few pages, the debate has degraded into which tree is better. If they can't get past that stage, I can not put much stock in anything else said.

Part of the problem is that tanking isn't as simple as DPS to measure. That's a heavy math based forum so things get fuzzy.

I prefer tankspot.com
