I'm not sure how much Arena you do Anobix, but... Since someone responded;
Our teams CC is not really a problem... We just have an issue surviving a team that survives our initial burst... I generally use my mirror image at the beginning.. Is that a flaw?
Also I rarely use mirror because they are retards who break your CC and they have no pet control functions. They just attack whatever the hell they want, whether it's sheeped, blinded, repentanced they don't care and they'll attack it. I only use deep freeze as a ghetto form of feign death (ever fight a hunter and they feign death right as your about to cast a frostbolt? you lose your target for a split second, have to retarget the hunter manually, and the cast fails).
That's all I mirror image for in arena, CC is too sensitive to be broken by stupid pets, they can lose you a game. Your water elemental is also stupid and will constantly try to attack your sheep target without a specific macro or spamming pet control buttons each time you resheep.
Careful with pets.
You say your problem in general is when the enemy team outlasts your initial burst. You will rarely win these games past that point, double DPS is
all about the initial burst and getting the fast kill through textbook CC chains and high burst on the non-CC'd target. I won't lie, double DPS is harder to play then anything else. I'm playing my holy pally right now just facerolling to 1850, it's so much easier then playing a mage in PVP. Healers I find pretty easy mode compared to the perfection required to be consistent winning double DPS games.
You have to watch videos, tons of them. Go to warcraftmovies.com, click the arena tab, select mage + paladin and watch at least 4-5 good mage/ret videos. Then watch some mage/mage and mage/rogue videos just for kicks, and maybe some mage/disc priest videos. They will teach you alot.
