Keep in mind; as mages our roles are not in particular to "Last" or "Tank".

We are simply there to unload bursts of damage and get out.

Giving thought to stacking resil, and STA... Which i still see some mages do, is pointless...
Stacking resil is SO Druid/Priest

Pala, i completely agree with you. but there is always that little sound in the back of my head saying....RESILIENCE!!!!!!

but at the same time, im frost so i usually "last longer" than my arcane/fire counterpart.

so, i need more opinions plz!

also, I am stacking more Crit than Haste, is that wrong?

In my opinion, Crit > Haste to a certain extent.. Dont just ignore haste... But hey Don't forget the faithful RANK 1 FROSTBOLT 1.5 sec cast (?) << Optimum for slowing effect. And a quick cast.

gota love the quick frostbolt. use it all the time :).

but back to resilience. Should i get 2 resiliance trinkets? or 2 SP? or 1 get 1 resil and 1 sp?

how much do you REALLY need, or is it just get as much as u can but not that importnat?

Ask yourself this

"DO I KEYBOARD TURN??"

If the answer is yes, then go with resil. Because if you do not move with your mouse, expect to take some hits.

Turning with the key board is really stupid so i just go with the mouse for instant turns.

Spell Penetration. It sounds pretty obvious, this stat help against resistances? but wat does it do exaclt.

and how do u get it? i saw only 1 enchant on the back for it, any that I have missed?

Well given you do not turn with your keyboard, I would go with the SP trinkets. And Spell Penetration is something I dont even look into for PvP... I gear mainly for SP, and Crit and Haste.

Others may critique me on this ^^ But it's a preference to me. Haste>Sp Pen. for PvP.

You can also gem for it, but I wouldn't waste the time for it unless you are going up against heavy resist teams (like warlocks would have in TBC, no idea if they still do). you know how you can have resist gear? it negates that.

Oh, and please try to type with proper grammar and spelling. It isn't hard and makes your posts a lot easier to read.

Spell crit isn't a good stat to gem for in PVP, you want pure haste so you can actually get frostbolts off and get 5 ice lances on a deep frozen target with icy veins up. Haste haste haste, you have 50% chance to crit on frozen targets plus your base crit. Gemming, gearing for crit is overkill and there are more important stats. Whenever there is a choice between a crit piece and a haste piece, choose the haste one (ie: PVP neck, cloak, etc..)

Spell penetration is good for fighting classes with resistance to your spells. Typical frost mage spec would give them 110 resistance to all spells (assuming mage armor is active). Arcane mages might run with 140 resist to all spells. Paladins with frost aura get 130. Not sure if felhunters still have their insane magic resistance like they did in TBC.

Put 35 spell penetration on your cloak, then think about gemming 4x 20 spell pen gems. That will make enemy frost mages unable to resist your spells. Another gem will make paladins unable to resist with frost aura up. And another half gem on top of that (ie: 8 haste 10 spell pen in a yellow socket) would make enemy arcane mages unable to resist and you'd have maximum spell penetration for PVP (145). It's up to you though.

Top mages have very high arena ratings, get tons of arena points per week, and have multiple PVP weapons and off hands. Against caster teams they'll swap into their spell penetration set, you can even swap your weapons in combat and in arena (at the cost of a GCD but it's no biggie).

The problem with throwing 4-6 spell penetration gems in your gear is it's useless against alot of classes, just a waste of stats. But duel enough frost mages and have counterspell resist often enough you just get fed up and start gearing for spell penetration.

Will Do. I see your point Mike. Ill start getting Haste stuff and leave Crit stuff behind. But alrdy got 2 Crit pieces...damn. I should have read this first.

Anyway, Thanks for your help.

Anobix-no mistakes in this one, I promise.

I am still a fan of the PoM Pyro build as a fire spec mage. I dont think many people use it anymore, but if you can get a nice tank/hunter to keep people off of you long enough to get that first pyro blast off, the second being instant cast is devistating
