If I were you, I would live dangerously. I would pick a rhyme that I remembered from my youth and using the beats do a tic-tac-toe bit to decide. In the end I would hope that it would land on Suppression, but be equally happy if it landed on something else. The conflict inherent in your choices at this time will shape you as a Warlock forever. Take the moment as seriously as you can. Respecing will cost you not only gold, but confidence in your ability to make decisions for yourself.

In all honesty, your talent points don't matter too much early on. Use your best judgment and you'll usually be close enough that the difference isn't going to affect you in solo play. Later it's definitely more influential as your talents start to give you new abilities, or greatly change old ones; but right off the bat, it's a lot more fun to just experiment and enjoy being lost and confused, because it's a feeling you'll have a lot of nostalgia for later in the game.

I cannot answer any better than the others already have but i can add my thoughts.

With your lock it is not easy to say what is the best path to follow but most of the talents you can get are worth having so all i can say is look up each talent and see what you think is best , it is usually pretty obvious that some are better and if you pick one of them it will not matter if another was better as i am pretty certain you will take the talents in the end , and if you find at a higher level you made a mistake somewhere it is pretty cheap to correct it , i doubt that anyone here can say they have never had to re-spec at least once because they made a mistake and picked a useless talent , i know i have made a few poor choices.

Another way is look up what a level 80 affliction locks talents should be for maximum damage depending a little on your play style and fill in the same talents as you level just remember to look up the talents and try to pick the best one first , either way may not be the best way but both work well enough for me.

I can suggest reading these forums on a regular basis will help you figure stuff out , i have found out loads of things about many classes from reading just a few of the posts here that sounded interesting to me that i would never have worked out on my own.

Probably said by others, but...

Three ways to go about this.

1. Put the next points into what you think will help you right now.

2. Figure out what you want to have for an end-game build and place points based on that build.

3. Look up either a demonology or affliction lvling build and place points based on the build you pick. Destruction is said to not be a great lvling build, if I remember correctly. I personally never tried destruction at low lvls.

Out of these 3 methods, I'd recommend 2 or 3. The first one would lead to trial and error, which could result more money spent on respecs.

What I have done is what the above poster put as #3. Figure out what you want your final spec/specs are to be and choose one as leveling spec. Then go to some place like WoWwiki.com and look up the Warlock builds and see what you like. I followed the link and then saved the WoWhead.com page in my bookmarks so I could refer back to it. That way you know what you should spend your points on with the final goal in front of you. You could also check out ElitistJerks if your really want to get technical about it and choose what they suggest.

you are leveling yes? Then follow 1 rule as you are leveling in regard to spec

Spec whatever ensures you the least amount of chances of you dieing or whatever will kill your enemy faster then what you did before

if neither apply, just go with what looks cooler, if your leveling then it wont make much of a difference :D
