I was in a 25m naxx where i was kicked out of the tanking postion becuase i wasnt in vent,i was told to do DPS,well i pulling 2.3k average on bosses,so he didnt kick me out of the raid.

On KT however i somehow pulled 2.7k DPS,when the MT died i grabbed KT and saved the raid.

Tell me,how does a tank do this much DPS?

In a 25-man raid, all tanks are supposed to do around that much, and DPS should be more like 4-5k.

#3REDACTED, Posted: Jul 07 2009 at 3:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I understand we're supposed to do about 2.3k,but 2.7k?! A little to much for t7.5gear and the last laugh, dont you think?

You said you did 2.3k on bosses but weren't tanking, then 2.7k while you were tanking. While tanking you were getting damage from Holy Shield, Ret Aura, Thorns maybe? All those sources that require you to be the target weren't adding to your damage when you weren't tanking, so the fact that your DPS went up while tanking really shouldn't be a surprise at all. I'm sure you had less mana issues so you could sustain more damage for longer as well.

in t7.5 you should get 4k dps easily while tanking ...
don't forget to pop wings when starting , to avoid and give me 2 seconds to get aggro, and just tell them "NUKE IT"

Your numbers sound about right. Using VERY ROUGH math - you should be doing over 1/3 the damage of the DPS. (Because most of your damage is increased 3x by your RF)

So - when you hit 25 man content the top DPS'ers should be hitting 5k+

In order to cover that (From a threat perspective) you need to be hovering in the 2k range.

Why you jumped on the actual boss fight is because KT is an extremely easy fight to tank. You should NEVER get frozen. You might have to move once or twice, but not much more. You should basically be spaming your 696 (Or whatever you use). You are getting Constant heals - so your mana is topped off. And it's a long time... Just stand there and spam.

Bosses like, let's say Gluth require you to stop, run, kill Chow. Or The Dance - is terrible for melee (Particularly Paly) Or what about Anub - Boss, Hit by spikes, run back to boss, Adds pop, run to adds.... Etc.

There is no time wasted on KT. Just that simple.

I know a Warlock that was doing 2.6k dps at lvl 70. Before 3.0. My alt hunter does 4.8k dps in 25 mans.

Maybe a little too much crack on yer cheerios this morning...4k dps would be the equivalent of a consistent 12k threat. No tank...ever...was doing ungimmicked 12k threat sustained in t7.5. Ever. I could break 10k threat in lolbuff fights like Thaddius, but that's a gimmick and not a standard. 2-2.5k dps is roughly normal for a prot pally in t7.5 25-man content. 4k is just wishful thinking. You might see 3-3.5k on top 100 protadins, but that's about as far as you'd expect to see pre-Ulduar.
