I am picking my prof for druid and thinking about the long term bonus. for those that dont have these memorized i got this from the zomgawsome mage post ever guide.

Alchemy - Mixology (4hr Flasks and +37 SP using Frostwyrm)

Blacksmithing - Extra Gem Slot on your Bracers and Gloves (Belt is usable by everyone). +38 SP with Rare Gems

Engineering - Glove Enchant that gives a haste buff when used

Enchanting - Ring Enchants (+19x2 SP)

Inscription - Unique shoulder enchants = +36 SP

Jewelcrafting - 3x Dragon's eye gems (Prismatic). = +59 SP and -24 stamina (or -16 spirit) compared to using rare gems

Leatherworking - Bracer Encants = +37 SP

Tailoring - Unique back enchant (Lightweave Embroidery) = +/~2dps

Im thinking skinning and leatherworking would be good because i can make my gear, and get the + crit and bracer enchants. However, because i have never seen end game in wow, i have no idea if this is best. Any ideas?

As of right now the best professions for end game raiding are JC and BS. Every spec and class combo.

This may will change with 3.2, depends on what they do with JC and the other professions.

To offer an opinion:

Ya leatherworking is nice, not only for the 'make your own epics' for helping you get started at 80, but also the bracer 'enchants'. Jewelcrafting will be overpowered at end game: the gems are nice, and so are the trinkets.

Inscription and Alchemy can both help with the cost of consumables at end game; glyphs/scrolls and flasks/potions respectively. And of course having a gathering profession for whatever you choose keeps costs down as well. :)

The last thing I'd add is to try to choose a profession your friends/guildies don't have, so you can complement each other better.

Other things to consider. Inscription gets you out of grinding Sons of Hodir rep to Exalted for your shoulder enchants. JC is getting nerfed to be more or less in line with the other professions. The advantage you get with JC and BS is that you get to choose from a wider variety of bonuses. Is Agi/Str/ArP/whatever better than AP/Spell power/etc? You can use the appropriate gem instead of being stuck with just a couple choices.

If you don't have a toon to farm for you, you may want 1 or maybe 2 gathering professions.
