So bears are favored due to their Swipe ability?

Can they really hold aggro on multiple mobs with it? I'm assuming that's why it's used.

Relative to other pets, yes. At least enough that you don't pull aggro on the secondary targets from Mend Pet and items that proc a health or mana replenishment effect. Results may vary.

+1

In high end gear it doesn't really matter, I just stick to my Wolf for the DPS, because I pull aggro anyway, and just kill the mob before it gets to me.

I just use a DK if I need to farm leather or something.

At first my bear would not hold agro with Swipe, but when I got to about 35ish she started holding agro against 2-3 multi shots.

I imagine once she gets Thunderstomp, AOE agro shouldnt be problem.

Haha looks like the OP needed to think out his question better before writing.
The real problem with an answer for the best pet is we all have different ideas on what is the best pet which is not like it used to be since they buffed the pets to all have a use.

I think for solo use any pet is viable and my personal preference at very low level is still a boar and the reasons for that are they eat almost anything so cheap to feed and are a small pet so do not obstruct targeting and they have good health and with the right talents stop most targets in their tracks and i like the boars animations.

I still prefer the gorilla for mid levels up as i like the animations and they suit my style of playing but of course have a disadvantage in what they eat but they still can take on multiple mobs with ease.

To the OP my advice is get as many stable slots as you can afford and with a max of 5 pets just try them all out , my highest level hunter has tried out every pet family under level 73 and i still like the boars and gorillas but i also have a cat and a few exotics , you will find some pets suit your play-style better than others but some are better for different types of mobs so try a few families out or do as many do and collect the rarer pets like in darkshore the ghost sabre ( many have that one) or the clutch mother tallstrider which i rarely see , it may be an odd pet but i find is real fun to have with my low level hunter. There are so many different choices of viable pet now it is not easy to decide what is best.

Second bit of advice is google somewhere like petopia and take a look at different pet families , three different groups of families so you have plenty of choice , pick a colour and if you are high enough in level go get it as you may as well have a pet that looks good beside you.

I had one hunter with all white pets , ghost sabre cat , white bear , white gorilla , white owl and a white wolf and each was fun and a good pet to solo with.
