By the time you hit 80 and get some decent raid gear ArP becomes the strongest stat for increasing DPS is a raid setting. Especially at higher gear levels.

From testing over at elitistjerks

At about 350 ArPen with RIP idol and 200 ArPen with Shred idol, ArPen becomes a better stats than agility.
For a similar reason at about 230 ArPen Shred idol becomes better than RIP idol.

I'm wondering if I should start stacking ArP and switching to the shred idol. Have any of you end game raiders done so and what results have you observed? I'd really like to hear from someone who actually tried it in ulduar 25 man.

I'm also wondering if the changes in 3.2 will affect the benefit from ArP vs. agi. It seems the changes only affect ability base damage and not the mechanics behind it, so I'm guessing ArP will still be just as good.

My current ArP is 191 with agi gems (since armory won't show it)

Make the switch to Armor Penetration gemming and use Hearty Rhino food. Your current ArPen levels are sufficient to make the swap.

The changes, assuming they do not change from PTR notes, may actually put higher emphasis on Armor Penetration over Agility. That doesn't mean it'll become a better stat than it is now, it just means it'll be worth more relative to Agility. Why? Because White Damage isn't being nerfed at all.

How much better are we talking about, exactly?

Because there's been a number of fights (Auraiya, Thorim, Yogg-Saron) where I simply cannot stand behind target to hit shreds...granted nobody's stopping you from carrying around two idols to cover those fights, but if it's just a ridiculously marginal boost to your dps I'm inclined to just leave the Rip idol running full time so I don't even have to think about it :/

Auraiya; you can be behind if you pay attention and shift to front for the Screech or w/e the stack attack is called. I forget the name of it.

But ya ArP is sexy. Grim Toll procs make me violate things. In a bad way. I feel guilty after wards. But they're dead so w/e. With a tank spec so it could be worse if I actually used Shred. Even with Mangle spam ArP makes me hit like a truck.

Sticky is correct. If I recall they capped ArP or are going to so there becomes a point where you return to agility. Depends on trinkets. Kind of hung over and really should start working since I came late other wise I'd find the numbers.

Seems I might as well go for the switch then. I got 2 new pieces with sockets and might as well put ArP gems in them and start changing the rest.

Thx for the feedback :)

I was gonna give the ArP a test last night on 25 man deconstructor (one of the few times I usually get to DPS), but since there was a lack of tanks on and in the raid I had to tank...DAM! I had even changed my DPS gear up enough to have like 250 ArP (roughly 20% I think). And we went ahead and killed Mimiron as well (second chance for me to DPS), so I guess I'll test it next week or sneak into a naxx long enough for Patchwerk, lol.

BTW, 2 tanking 25 man Ulduar was actually pretty fun coordinating it all on some of the fights.
