AI'm a little bit shocked but happy after reading the patchnotes:

Rogues:
After much quiet contemplation, rogues now possess the ability to learn how to use one-handed axes.

Axe Specialization (Orc):
The weapon bonus from this effect now applies to fist weapons in addition to axes.

Combat
Sword Specialization: This talent is now called Hack and Slash and applies to axes as well as swords.

Rogues with axes?????? Although i was a little angry after rolling an Orc Rogue and finding out later that i could not equip axes (and thus missed the added weapon dmg bonus) i've learned to love the class and feel like axes aren't Rogue weapons. I'm also thinking this will **** of a lot of hunters.

So ye, more weapons for me to roll on and more damage from both axes and fists. Happy joy joy i guess.

Anyone think they will rethink the whole "Rogues with axes" idea?

No, they are essentially giving more reason to have axes in the game, as there is only so much use for them now.

As far as people thinking its weird for rogues to have axes, many assassins used axes, and as a blue stated:

Quote:
Rogues seemed like the class that would pretty much pick up any weapon in a fight -- they use a broken bottle in at least one notorious case.

I have a feeling the Rogue Q&A will look like this:

Q:"So what are you guys planning on doing to the R-...."

A:"We are actually gonna cut you off right there. We have been thinking about this and Rogues are fine."

Q:"But.."

A:"Axes. Okay. There. Axes."

Yep. Pretty useless addition for rogues though--assuming they'll have some new rogue-itemized axes in 3.2, they could just as easily have made new rogue-itemized swords/maces. The other reason they did this is to make the patch notes for rogue appear larger when scanning it, and give them something they can claim they did for rogues. Now instead of 1/10th the fixes/tweaks as other classes we appear to only have 1/8th. Rejoice!

My feelings can be summed up with one word.

"Meh."

I'm hoping that this will be a useful change for leveling up my brand new rogue after 3.2 hits, since the slower axe speed should prove beneficial to my special attack damage for a combat build.

This will probably **** off just as many shamans are it will hunters. Shamans could actually use more weapon choices (ie, swords).

Very "meh" overall, though.
