Working to dual spec and need some helpFollow

OK... maybe a lot of help.

Right now I've got a 62 feral druid. I'm really interested in doing a dual spec on him since druids are so fricking flexible and fantastically fun. I was leaning resto for the healer demand (and I'm healer curious), but since I'm still primarily leveling, I want to be able to fly solo still like I can with feral.

So my question is this:

Feral and Resto

or

Resto and Boomkin

Any build/gear/glyph help would be great, but I can scout around for that. Also, I've never gotten into moonkin druid-ing, so I just threw that in in case it was a better dual spec combo :)

Thanks

Well lets see here :)

As for Feral vs Boomkin, feral will level faster, but boomkin can share armor with the resto. With feral/resto you'd be building 2 sets of gear, which could be a bit of a pain.

There's a lot of great info in the "Read Me: Druid 202" to get you prepped for the different roles. ;)

I honestly leveled as a DS/resto hybrid till about 73 then switched to a full resto build and PuG'd instances to reach 80, so there's probably little I could help you with in those other trees (bleh, bad pun. Told ya I'd been resto too long...). So I'll leave that advise for those more experienced then me to give :)

As for resto, here's my current build:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Nagrand&cn=Sundrizzle&gn=Apple+Dumpling+Gang

There's a lot of options for resto-druid builds at end-game, depending on what you are called on to do in your group; so you'll really want to check out some other builds as well, and experiment to see what works well for you.

I'd recommend the Healing Touch glyph & talents before you hit 80 and get Nourish. Other than that what resto-glyphs you get are mainly dependent on your role in a group, and play style. To do a quick summary of some of the resto glyphs:

Healing Touch: mainly used to level, end-game usefulness is diminished and hotly debated
Swiftmend: Great glyph if you use swiftmend frequently.
Wild Growth: One of the few you'll see in almost all raid-healing builds.
Nourish: Great for tank healing.
Rejuvenation: Can be good for getting people out of the danger zone faster, very useful on some fights, not so good at other times.
Regrowth: Not used as much since 3.1, still ok if you cast the spell a lot.
Innverate: Nice if you find yourself frequently short on mana.
Rebirth: Great boost to the spell, can save people from rebirth-redeath syndrome. Unfortunately you will only make use of the glyph every 20min at most.

For resto: spellpower & spirit are two stats you'll see yourself wanting. The "What's needed to raid?" thread that started just before this one will give you a good idea of which stats you will find yourself looking for.

Best of luck to ya!

I'm a Feral/Resto dual spec Druid. It's extremely fun, and has provided not only ease of solo content/questing (ie. Daily's), but my Feral Druid is primarily Tank Spec (and solo's fine as kitty, too), and has provided some serious convenience to my 10-man raid group with fights that require 3 tanks.

There's also a Boomkin/Resto in my raid group, which she's primarily a Boomkin and has the resto spec/gear as a backup if needed. I've never played Boomkin, though, so I can't provide much insight. Both Feral and Resto specs are fairly straight forward. The feral tree clearly outlines the preferred talents based on what you're doing (Tanking/DPSing), but feel free to view my specs if it is of any help.

Gear-wise is straight forward, too. Resto's generally stack stats in the order of 1) Spell Power 2) Spirit 3) Intellect with Crit & Haste as other important stats and Feral's generally stack 1) Agility 2) Stamina 3) Depends on focus...Crit for Bear, AP for Kitty...and both need to be at Hit Cap. Bear also benefits much from Expertise, and strength also benefits Feral's (some Str/Stm accessory gear can be helpful). There's a lot to go over, and some of the stat stacking is situational and player preference, as well. Good luck :)

Thanks to both of your responses. I'll definitely read over the 202 piece a little more in depth. See what I can get from it.

I'll likely keep my feral DPS spec just since I'm more comfortable with it and still plugging at the levels. The gear sharing sounds really convenient, but since I know nothing about moonkins and how to work them, I feel I'd get too frustrated... who knows though... that's part of the fun of being a druid :)

Thanks again for the insight and even bad tree pun :)

both need to be at Hit Cap

Not that important for for Ferals. One of the few specs in the game where hit is not #1 until capped. I think my DPS set is capped but ,y tank set is at like 74 hit or something abysmal like that. I mean getting hit capped is cool but don't like gem for it or anything.

My bear gear is way over expertise cap. That is sexier for bear. Cat I forget probably close to pushing off dodge but same deal as with hit, just not an all consuming goal with feral.

Boomkin, ya they need it for uber-deeeps.

Glad you enjoyed that little bit of insight :P

Still debating on which is the best healer option though... Resto druid/Holy pally/Holy priest/Resto shammy

So I have a lot more research to go.. I just like the sexy flexibility a druid rolls with. But the plate healing of a pally can be pretty enticing too.
