Tanking gear questionFollow

Hi. At this point in time, my paladin is nearly level 78, so I'm preparing for level 80. I've got the mats for the tempered titansteel treads/helm, and I'm wondering if I should work on getting the titansteel shield, or should I just get the one from heroic CoS (I think that's where I was told to go..).

I want to be fairly well geared by 80 so that it won't take long to finish getting def capped (at 469 with current prot set), and I can start tanking heroics fairly soon.

My advice: Get the Titansteel Shield..

It has more Def than the Epic (Something of Lorderon) from H.CoS. While the CoS has more stamina and ultimately is going to be a better shield – you will often find you need to swap out gear while leveling a tank.

You’ll get a new hands piece that will have 30 more stamina and a Gem spot… But equipping it will lower you Def to < 535 or < 540. So – having the Titansteel available will be nice. Swap things in and out to get you the BEST possible set – while maintaining Def cap at either Heroic or Raid level.

The titansteel is a great shield at early 80 specially due to that big chunk of defence. However, if you don't need it to be above 540, just don't get it.

I used it until I could swap it for something else, so if you can outright skip it, I don't see no reason why you shouldn't.
